I'm hearing a rumor that is probably not true that Quay has come back and asked

for one more chance as a walk on. Anyone hearing this and how would you feel about letting him come back?

I would be quite skeptical but I believe in second and third chances.

That would be karma.**

ETA: Did you hear Paul Jones just say it on the radio?

No, I didn't hear it on the radio. A friend of mine here at work popped his

head in my office this morning and told me. He is close friends with one of our major boosters who told him over the weekend.

Hell yeah I would take him back!! Are you freaking kidding me? If the coaches trust that he has turned things around and would give him a chance, I certainly would.

I may

be in the minority, but I don't want him back. The kid just doesn't have what it takes, between the ears. If he hasn't figured it out by now, he never will. I'm sure Renardo is looking for a sidekick.

Put him on a short leash and go for it. The coaches know his issues better than me.

I'm very skeptical. If Mullen's OK with it, I'm OK with it. But he's had plenty of chances. I don't see any reason to think one more would turn out any differently.

Make him take a redshirt this year (same as Nick James did last year) and prove he is willing to put in the work. If he does well, then put him back on scholarship for his final 2 seasons.

Not no but hell no....

He had his shot and it didn't work out. It's our deepest position and he is a drain. Good luck to him and his efforts at some other institution. I don't see the benefit outweighing the risk.

If it`s true I would run it by the team captains then let the entire team vote (secret ballots) on it before I made my decision. I would then have a very narrow set of criteria for him to meet. It could work out but it would be a long shot IMO.

No, this just opens up a chance for dissension among the team.

If true, Mullen and the other coaches know more than any of this. If they give him a shot I'm fine with it, if they don't, fine with that also.

I don't see any risk in giving him one more shot on a short leash. Our football staff and team leaders aren't going to allow him to be a cancer like Sidney was allowed to be in basketball.

Les Miles approves.

You don't get rid of cancer by letting it hang around and hoping to get better.

Figured out that he was not going to get paid at WG?

FWIW, he is not showing on the WG 2014 Roster.

Thumbs down on taking him in!

I saw him walking around campus in June. I'm assuming he was in summer school, but wasn't sure why he was still here. It might just be that he didn't have to/couldn't report to West Georgia yet, but who knows.

The difference is that Miles held a vote for a criminal. Quay had only a minor traffic charge, as I recall. His problems were related to motivation and dedication.

Do we know that Quay was/is really a "cancer" though? As far as I understood, all his problems were confined to himself. I could be missing a lot, but I didn't think he was negatively influencing anyone else. If he was, I don't think Mullen and co. would have allowed him to stick around as long as he did.

Let a guy in that could not cut the mustard/get in at West Georgia? I'll pass...

He's had his chances.

This is the first I've heard of him being a cancer. You definitely can't have too many personalities that are not self motivated, but you can have one or two as long as you have strong leadership, which I think we have. Assuming the coaches think there's a decent enough chance that Quay has turned a corner that it's not a waste of their time, the only reason I would possibly worry is whether Nick James and Quay fed negatively off each other (no clue if that's the case, but thought I'd heard something like that). Otherwise, we seem to have a lot of good character guys that wouldn't be brought down even if Quay came back and was not committed.

All I ever heard was that we had to separate him and Nick James, because he was bringing James down with him.

He had two years to prove he was worth the hype. He failed. On to the next one in my opinion.

be in the minority, but I don't want him back.

We are full up with 85 scholarship already and 'if' he wanted back, he would have to pay his way and walk-on.

That said, I trust Mullen and Turner to make the decision that 'best' benefits the team. Surely, he would be on an extremely short leash and would need to prove himself during this red-shirt year.

I trust our coaches whatever they decide. Well as long as it isn't clock management.
