He is getting some talent down there. I think he has a better chance at leveraging his performance at Auburn into a big time HC gig than he would taking the HC job at Vandy. Yes, I know Vandy is in the SEC, probably pays more than he makes now, etc., etc. I just don't see a coach in his position risking his rising stock by coaching likely being mediocre at Vanderbilt.
Then again, the same thing was likely said about Dan Mullen and MSU - so you never know.

one that you can't recruit to, etc. It took Mullen like one day to realize all that crap was BS.We have all the tools in place to win. Croomeven won one seasonand completely self destructed on most game days. Any coach who's not an idiot can win at MSU. I mean, it really took a lot of work tomake football the joke it was under Croom and Templeton. Even when Sherrill was losing he was stillattracting hotshot players and could have wonif not for shooting himself in the foot. We've just had some damn bad luck and ***** *** leadership in the AD until now.
I might be going out on a limb here but doesn't Malzahn make probably just as much as a coordinator as Bobby Johnson? I guess its hard to find out since Vandy is a private school and doesn't have to report salaries.
He may coach this year, but I would bet they hire someone before August. I would guess that they would go with a guy like Tommy Bowden or Fulmer. The head coach a Navy would be a good fit for them also. I doubt you will see any hot prospect assistantlike Gus taking a chance on a team like Vandy.</p>
