an OM poster asked "where are all these OM fans who think UT is the eventual Nat Champ"....

Just so you know. He just walked into my office.
Things I learned from my five min convo with this OM fan:
1) It is better to lose to the eventual National Champion Texas Longhorns by 35 than to beat Troy (as I posted yesterday)
2) OM fans would rather be sitting at home with 4 wins during bowl season than be bowling with States schedule
3) EVEN WITH! States ****** sched., we will still only be lucky to win 7 games
4) The Battle for the Golden Egg (I hate the term "Egg Bowl", which he used) will be a tight one... and Freeze will WILL their team to overcome us
5) Him: There are a LOT of positives I took away from the game Sat. night Me: I didn't see it Him: The game? Me: No, the positives Both: Long silence.............. He leaves.

The Iranians think they're in good shape too. Yeah, they are looking good. They've got some mines and some refurbished 1990 model russian made subs and some RPGs and some surface to air batteries. They ready to kick some ***.

You should have put him out of his misery. Never in my life have I seen fans so thrilled at a 5 TD loss. There is a guy on the Spirit board that is actually proud of the way the defense played at the end by not letting the UT guy score before they decided to take two knees.

I have to give it to them......they get their propoganda talking points distributed to the masses. Rob Fischer, Sports56, said yesterday the loss to Texas was better than any win OM had in the previous two years. YES, he said this.

I heard some guy on the radio yesterday put it in these terms. Ole Miss fans are like some passanger on the sinking titanic pointing at the band saying at lest the band sounds good.

I think it's more like a guy saying he would rather get publicly, loudly shot

It's like a guy saying he'd rather be picking up 4s at bars every weekend than be married to a 9.

down by an 8 that he never had a shot with than have to work to pick up a six that should have been happy to jump in the bed with him.

Whatever floats their boat, but I remember a pretty mediocre UM team playing in a Cotton Bowl after playing a shittastic schedule, and I don't remember thinking it was so much better to play good teams to the wire and sit at home in December/January than play ****** teams and go to a good bowl.

Really the only positives I saw from Mississippi were Moncreif and the fact they didn't just roll over and give up. Of course, that last one could be a negative too. The 35 point loss could have easily been 45 and that was with Mississippi trying all the way to the end. No cheap points given up after they had quit.

Its a confederate legacy thing, you know the old party line after the war that

"We won damn near every battle, we just lost the war".

This makes me wonder exactly how bad does one need to get beat before reality sets in? Even with our craptastic history I don't recall getting double sixes rung up on us and then saying "hey I think we can win 6 games".

It has to be propoganda

Their sort of like little islamic radicals. Completely committed to the cause in the face of annihilation. Their defense looked to have the consistency of wet paper. Every play their d-line got blown off the ball at least 3 yards. They never came close to touching David Ash. texas did whatever they wanted to do whenever they wanted to do it. Alabama or LSU will be able to score 100 on them if they want to do so. the only bright spot is moncreif or that you can chunk it up to him and he will come down with it.

As for us, I don't care how we win as long as we win ooc games. What matters is SEC games for us. all saturday shows is we're not good enough to skate. I think they will have their focus back this weekend and then ramp it up more for Utenn.

You should have pointed out that Tyrone Nix never gave up 66 points. His worst games (each year) were 31 to USCe in 2008, 41 to us in 2009, 49 to Jacksonville State in 2010 and 51 to the eventual National Champs Auburn in 2010 and 52 to Alabama and LSU last year, both of whom played for the National Championship.

So, yeah, I would say the defense is worse, especially since UT could have dropped 80 on them.

They are reminding me ...

... of those years when OM baseball was hosting super regionals & MSU baseball was in the *******.

I would rationalize in my mind that MSU was still the top baseball school, even as MSU played like a bad church league team & OM was hosting Miami & Texas in Super Regionals.

I had to embrace the illusion because I couldn't bring myself to face the facts.

When you look at the facts, MSU is ranked, has a great schedule moving forward, has a SEC caliber QB for the first time in decades & has a defensive backfield full of future NFL players.

When you look at the facts, OM has tidbits of talent on offense, a first year coach who has no idea how physical the SEC is about to get for him & a defense that may turn out to be one of the worst in SEC history.

So they can't afford to embrace facts.

Like me concerning the baseball situation, they can't psychologically handle the facts they are confronted with.

I think that's more of a testament to how bad their last 3 years have been...

They may not be your father's Ole Miss, but they're definitely your great-great-grandfather's Ole Miss. They got their asses kicked too, despite looking good (Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Atlanta, Appomattox.....)

That Running Back gave up out of pity. He could have easily ran over both those guys, but you could see him change direction out of feeling sorry for those losers.
