Had one local to here decide not to come back after hurricane helene whipped his butt. He had good dark beers, but the guy was waaayyyy too busy trying to cater to weekend bikers from Atlanta which is 2 frigging hours drive away. Those weekend shiny bike people drank ipa and sours (blech).

I can't imagine any tariffs on aluminum being good for American brewers, but I've thought the craft beer market has been saturated for a while, and it was only a matter of time before there was some correction.

It had to happen. If there was an abandoned metal building in an industrial area in the last 5 years it’s like there was a law a brewery had to go in there. Seemed like an over saturation. Same with food trucks.

Not only do they serve burnt tasting swill, they add all the fashionable labels like sustainable, ethically sourced, fair trade, shade grown, organic, that all add another dollar or two to the price and doesn't improve the flavor at all. If you're going to charge me $6-$8 bucks for a "short" cup of coffee it better taste good and seldom do they without a bunch of other organic coconut mocha milk with pumpkin spice and caramel French vanilla hazelnut Amaretto butterscotch gingerbread maple bread artificial flavored crap added to it.
I'm strictly a black coffee drinker if you couldn't tell

Tastes vary. All the stuff y'all are running down stills sells, a lot. There are still something like 10k craft breweries in the US. A shake out was bound to happen sooner than later though. The ones that do good beer, and have a good business base and model will survive and even thrive.

There is nothing more disappointing than seeing new construction go up in a commercial/retail zoned area then finding out a few weeks later that it’s going to be a Washmasters or whatever.

I know a guy that open a shop about five years ago. He was in a local shopping center and had outgrown the space. He asked me for advice, and I told him he had three four big threats and needed to be centrally located with a drive through. He disagreed and said people need to come inside to have a coffee experience. He is next to the hood with no drive through. I would bet he is one of the shops that close.

I think a lot of the craft beer retraction is due to BMC Breweries like AB InBev pushing into the "Craft" market with their products and pushing the small local guys out of shelf space. Also, just most people like BMC beer, and you can see the trend in craft breweries catering to that with their endless list of fruited sours and "Mexican" lagers, and seltzers. It is becoming where you go to a brewery and pay extra for what is essentially a bud light with kumquat.
