What NYT is really pissed about is Media Matters screwed up and gave them probable cause to look under the hood. Hard telling what they are going to find now.

And we elected Donald Trump for a reason, but connection with President Trump's name does not mean that you should be president of the United States. President Trump ran against dynasties when he opposed Jeb Bush in 2016. This is literally one of his leading gambits, was attacking Jeb Bush for being part of a political dynasty. Why are we — why the American obsession with political dynasties? And that's not a critique of Donald Trump Jr. as a person or as a future politician — that's just a reality that dynasties in American politics are typically bad. Kennedy dynasties, Bush dynasties, none of this is good.
And when you combine that with the fact that many of the organizations that Donald Trump Jr. is connected to are making an enormous amount of money during this period of time when his father is president, which raises awkward questions, certainly, about Trump administration policy ranging from Trump memecoin to World Liberty Financial to gigantic real estate deals in Qatar, none of this is an amazingly good look.
It's — this administration is doing too many important — I'll say it again, this administration is doing too many important things to be bogged down with conversations about how members of the Trump family or the Witkoff family or any of the other families surrounding the administration are making bank while President Trump is president in countries that President Trump is attempting to negotiate with. That is not a good thing. At the very least, it is not a useful thing.

I agree it's a bad look but it is a big nothing-burger in reality. It will be a distraction which is how Trump plays the game. This will be fodder for the legacy media to pounce on and beat to death and no one will really care. Meanwhile Trump will continue pushing his agenda as it flies under their radar.
He did the same thing with the Gulf of America, Greenland and Canada. Get the media to focus on stupid **** while he goes full speed without the MSM interference.
The dynasty talk is stupid. Trump is a single 2 term President with no other offices held or family members holding or running for major positions in government. He just began his 5th year as a public servant and his son sat at an economic forum this month. Shapiro has re-written the definition of dynasty and people fell for it. That's not a dynsasty. If Jr. runs for office in the future and wins, we can have that discussion then. How is this a dynasty?
As for the money, the Trump's didn't make their fortune by stealing taxpayer money like our other politicians. Jr. helped run the worldwide Trump empire so there is a decent level of experience there so sitting at the forum doesn't appear ridiculous on its face like crackhead Hunter on the board of an energy company. If there are no deals involving taxpayer money or influence peddling, I am fine with it.
This could be as dirty as the Biden crime family, but there is nothing to go on yet, which means this will be a headline for CNN tonight.
