I'm really glad Byrne and I agree....

is that it really doesn't matter who we play this year. We're going to be one of the best teams in an improved conference. If we win the number of games we're capable of, our schedule strength will be the difference between being a 4 or 5 seed... worst case. We are 3 seed material if Sidney pans out.

Save this discussion for next year when we're coming off a nationally relevant season. I agree with Byrne and Slive, but I'm sure they (Byrne in particular) are aware that more teams will be willing to schedule a home and home with us and more opportunities for premium non-conference matchups in random *** island tournaments will be available after next spring.

bbbbbbbut that just can't be true. Butler is sooooo much more respected than us. How in the devil could they have been ranked 11th and given a 7 seed? They should have been no worse than a 2. I sure wish we could schedule like Butler.

danced out of the SEC this year if we had not won it. Great job Stans! That said, we do need to schedule a little tougher, but only if we get a home and home out of the deal. Secondly, whoever typed the "we just got a top 10 player with what we have accomplished with Stans", put the bong down. We got a top 10, first because 2 big programs couldn't put their programs at any greater risk than they are already, secondly, no other big programs wanted to risk it either, thirdly, Stans did recruit the kid since he was in the 6th grade, but he still was not going to get him if USC wanted him. We fell *** backwards into it, good for Stans, the program, and the fans.

UNC in Chapel Hill and play the return game at a neutral site like Memphis? I bet they would take that deal, and we could get a bunch of fans there, or does U of M prevent that somehow? In any case, you are exactly right. We need to do what it takes to upgrade.

I am firmly opposed to that idea. If we schedule a big name school on a home-and-home, I want the home court advantage at the Hump. I would not be opposed to a 2-for-1 (2 -road;1 at home) with UNC or Duke or Kansas, but only an "elite" program.

I don't know how hard Stans tries to upgrade the schedule. If he is turned down by the bigger programs, I would get on the horn to Slive's office and ask for help. If Slive is going to shoot his mouth off about scheduling, he needs to put the effort into setting some of these games up...and NOT at neutral sites.

right here:

"you know in the 2007-2008 season, Butler was ranked 11th in the country"

that says it all about our program vs theirs

since we lost to Butler, we've been ranked as high as third. What are you talking about?
