This year's #1 pick was the #8 or #9 pick in 2012. I guess it's a little different because the guy is from Houston, TX and not Mayberry, but I don't think it's all that crazy for a 1st round pick to come back for a senior season. With Renfroe it's a good situation though going to the Padres, so I understand. Personally I think he'd be a little insane not to at least consider coming back with hopes of going to a team where he doesn't have to give up a big % of his signing bonus to California's tax and sports insurance pool. He gave the crowd a bow at his final home game before he even found out where he was going, so maybe he is insane.
Again, being from a town of 5 people, they could take 75% of his paycheck and he'd probably be happy. He's gone, but if/when we start becoming more of a nationally built team we could start seeing guys who are drafted so high coming back because they're not as easily persuaded by the mone-ay.
I'm still shocked Frazier didn't come back. I understand there isn't a single way in Hell he could replicate his performance from this season but I think he finally got on everyone's radar. Not a 1st round talent, but could have moved up from 6 and gone to a better team all while getting that college degree.
