maybe Donald Lee and Mardye McDole. It is just impossible with a bunch of singles hitters to score points. Tyler wwas outstanding tonight.

Ellis Johnson.

Never fielded a defense @ MSU statistically as good as the one everyone is wanting to fire the coach over currently. Of course, a large part of that can probably be attributed to the McCorvey offense that couldn't stay on the field.

I honestly don't know how we've managed to recruit as well as we have on the defensive side. It's a boring, yawn-worthy scheme that sucks the life right out of the game and gives players very little chance to really stand out. This is a stark contrast to what is going on in Oxford (with their version of Joe Lee) right now. We've got to get more explosive and exciting on that side. Need to be more Mannyesque even if it gets us burned every now and then...

there used to be a scheme that Joe Lee would run that gave us a clean shot at the QB every game. Seems like we could bring that back for a few play calls.

I think that was when he would rub his belly.

Or maybe when he put his hands together over his head in a house shape.

I've forgotten exactly when JLD's game became predictable but I remember it being said he never changed his signals. Maybe he should have. When we rolled FLA in Starkville (3rd and 57), the following year the ole ball coach torched us OVER and OVER when we'd blitz. "well, they keep dialin' it up" Spurrier said about running the score up. lol. They even tossed a score to avenge something we did to one of their equipment managers or something. I'll never forget the scowl on JWS's face looking across the field at Spurrier as the game wound down. Good times.
