Imagine: SEC vs BigTen and ACC vs Big12. Entire conferences squaring off in the early weeks of the season with real matchups with real implications

#10 Florida vs. #10 Rutgers!
We had a pretty good showing last time we went to the swamp. For a small Eastern Independent.

Indiana is overvalued. When they come down from the false high, it's going to be worse than a junkie on crack.
Lol I think they were going by last year's conference standings? Was Indiana really 2nd in the league? I guess they were in the big ten championship but man they really took advantage of their schedule last year..Rutgers did not, although Nebraska was better than expected. Hopefully Rutgers can get another year soon without Ohio St, Michigan or Penn State on the schedule..

The B1G championship was Oregon vs PSU. Indiana and PSU had the same conf record but PSU had the tiebreaker.

You can't really be negative on Indiana's season, they played very well.

But, they did play a horrible schedule- and we did shoot ourselves in the foot in games like USC/Ill

But the 4 games they had against the 4 uncommon B1G teams vs Rutgers- they did get 2-7 NWU and 0-9 Purdue. Our weakest B1G opponents they did not play were 3-6 Wisc and 4-5 USC

They were still the better team than us but their schedule was quite a bit weaker. And they also did not have a VaTech on their OOC schedule either

Also, people forget we dealt with an usual amount of injuries, which impacted our season. It may have been the reason Jay Butler was let go. The true Indiana team will show it's face this year.

I think it is important to recognize that even though their schedule was pretty easy, they did wins some significant games and had on hell of a season.

But it feels like it was a shoot your load for a single season or two type of deal. Not sure it is sustainable for a longer period. Unless Cuban plans to continue to funnel money too them but the new rules may make it more difficult

The SEC is pretty arrogant to the BIG. They would feel like they should win every game.
I think it would be more competetive than they think.

You think? I think the Big Ten has been the better football conference the last 2 seasons and many SEC fans realize this. During 2024 Bowl season the Big Ten went 5-1 against the SEC head-to-head, including 2 playoff victories. Some SEC fans will hang their hat on claiming the SEC has better depth then the Big Ten. After watching Michigan (with a roster of mostly underclassmen) beat Alabama and Illinois beat a South Carolina team that came in with a chip on their shoulders/highly motivated, I highly doubt the SEC has better depth. And we know the top of the Big Ten is better than the top of the SEC for the past 2 years winning the NC.

SEC is balking at playing 9 Conference games like the B1G so this won't happen anytime soon.

That would suck for teams like Rutgers and Maryland and half the B1G/SEC teams, in my opinion. It would make bowls more difficult to make (one cupcake gone, one SEC/B1G team added). A lot of other programs in weaker conferences would be happy to take those bowl bids, though...

Put 1 playoff auto bid up for grabs. winning conferences get it for each series.

B1G / SEC guaranteed 3 - 4th spot up for grabs.

ACC / B12 Each guaranteed 1 spot - 2nd up for grabs

That's 10 auto bids out of 16 for P4
Top 2 non P4 get bids
Then 4 highest ranked teams get remaining.

Would make for some must see TV in early part of season.
