As I mentioned previously in a thread I work with Matt, the father of Lane. I am fortunate enough to interact with him regularly. He is a true leader, and simply put a GREAT man. I was asked, in a previous thread, to provide any info on ways to help. Should you choose to post in this thread, I humbly request that comments come from a place of love and support. This thread is not intended to be a sounding board for opinions on this ordeal.

For those that would like to contribute financially, a fund has been established which will go to charitable causes of the family's choosing. Perhaps something positive can come from such a gut wrenching tragedy.

below is a message from the CEO of our company

In lieu of cards and flowers, Matt and Melissa ask that people donate to the Lane Thomas Fund, where 100% of the funds will go to charitable causes. The size of the donation is irrelevant; it's truly the thought that counts. The fund is called the Lane Thomas Fund because when asked his name, Lane would say "I am Lane Thomas and I am two years old."

If you are interested in showing a sign of support and solidarity for the family especially, but also a community that mourns young Lane's passing, a Blue Ribbon "movement" has begun in Elkhorn and has quickly spread to the Omaha area including Matt's place of employment where hundreds are hanging them around the complex. I will be hanging some at my home, I hope some of you will consider doing the same.

Lane you were taken at FAR too early age, you will be remembered.

I think I can honestly say we're all horrified at what happened. I don't even have words beyond that (not that any suffice).

Prayers from this Mount Michael graduate and those will be there for a very long time.

This is just gut-wrenching. I can't stop thinking about that little boy and his folks. And every little kiddo I see out and about with his/her parents reminds me of this incident.
