Mike Riley WILL NOT be fired after 1 season. There's no way we are going to simultaneously pay for buy-outs for 2 staffs as well as the salaries of a new coaching staff. A head coach will not be fired before he's able to bring in his first recruiting class.
Do not read this as an endorsement of what we are seeing on the field at Ross-Ade stadium right now. This is as bad as it gets. This is rock bottom.
Earlier in the season, I believed Riley would get at least 4 years. After seeing how things have progress, I'm willing to lower that prediction to 2 years. I think 2 consecutive non-bowl years could do him in. He will get a chance to field a team with more of "his" players and (hopefully) a healthier squad. Injuries aren't everything, but they aren't nothing either and we've had A LOT of them at significant positions with little depth.
It's not a matter of SHOULD. Just the reality of the situation, imo.
