In regards to Brewster's tweet

Here is something I don't understand. Why is Brewster the only coach, besides Mullen, albeit sparingly, to understand the power of of social media? Everytime Brewster tweets, our fan base gets pumped, and starts saying what a stud he is and how hard he works. However, the truth is that he probably doesn't work any harder than the other coaches. They have just yet to figure out that College Football recruiting is about perception and momentum.

I mean, how hard is it to set up a twitter account, type a tweet once everyday or two, and have the fan base eating out of the palm of your hand. Furthermore, it builds a perception of momentum, calmness, and having the situation under control.

I would venture to say that 90% of the problem with recruiting has a lot to do with lack of communication about what is actually going on, and the rampant speculation that is derived from that.

So I say to our other coaches, get with damn program and learn from Brewster. It is pure laziness not to. Heck, as far as I know, Bracky doesn't even get in the way. Especially you Heavesy. You come across to us as a grouchy, hot headed coach that just doesn't get it. Imagine what you could do for people's and recruits perception of you if you would just take 30 seconds a week to send out a clever tweet with some personality.

Good post. I agree. Look forward to Deshea figuring this out as well, because he's shown glimpses of the same thing on twitter.

The rest of the staff could DEFINITELY learn from Brew about shaping the perception. Dan knocked that out of the park for awhile here, but he's been faltering on that front lately...

What I don't understand is...it's obvious that Mullen got Brewster bc we needed a boost to recruiting, so why not learn from him since you think he's good at it? Every coach on our staff should be doing what Brewster is doing, or at least pick up some of the tendencies that work that they aren't currently doing. Tweeting being one of them. If you're going to utilize Brewster, then 17ing utilize him to your full capacity.

IMO, It would definitely help to get more of our brass involved with tweeting random BS every now and then, just like Yancy. I wish MSU would spend a little money on advertising and get some published material going to praise the Cotton District and such, too. You throw some money at some of these magazines or papers and they'll write anything you want them to. Starkville/MSU really needs to campaign hard and accelerate the ever-so-slow changing perception of the place.

Snakes in the grass. We all have to become snakes in the grass.

OK, this is isn't rocket science. If he is to grouchy to show some personality, then get a GA or office secretary, with some personality, to do it for it for him. Spoon feed his ***, I don't care. Twitter just seems, as Brewster has displayed, an outstanding way to shape perception. Who cares if it true or not?

Actually one of the best ideas I've seen on here in a while. It definitely couldn't hurt to pass this along....talking to all of the people with sources on here of course.

It's just what MSU and Starkville need to do. You have to actively market your product in order to sell it - and you can't just sit back and hope people will come along and write positive things about it just for the hell of it or because it's just a damn AMAZING product. You slip them some money, and they'll make your stuff look like it's a bastion of greatness. I mean, come on...do you REALLY think OM statistically has more "hot women" than anywhere else? Especially considering it's in north Mississippi? Do you REALLY think the Grove is worthy of all of the fellation that they have received in magazines and newspapers? Especially when compared to other tailgating scenes in the SEC? Do you REALLY think Oxford offers THAT much more than any other SEC town? To the point where it warrants publication after publication going apeshit over it and praising its awesomeness?

No, it doesn't. But you have to hand it to them. They spend a little money to get into the backdoor and change the perception of people who come there, and make those who have never been there want to come. Why can't MSU do that?

Just sent out his second tweet of the night. He will be in batesville tomorrow. The man tweets more in a day then all our coaches do combined in the same time frame.
