In the end, HD6 was right.

Because of their tie and their cancelled game, LSU finished with less wins than us, but gets a first round bye over us.

We have no room to complain. Win one game in Baton Rouge - ONE - and none of this is being discussed.

Wouldn't matter. It's not a tie. LSU is 17-11-1, .603. We're 18-12, .600. DawgatAuburn is right, we have no one to blame but ourselves. We had plenty of chances to get the bye, and didn't play either of the 2 top teams in the east, and we didn't get the job done.

Hard to get upset about, aside from the fact LSU swept us, its hard to not believe that they would have at least split the games they lost in the standings to Georgia and Alabama since they were both in BR. That's all they would have needed to have gotten the seeding over us. The real killer for us was SC coming back in the 9th and 10th innings last Thursday night to beat Vandy. That is really where we lost our top 4 seeding. After that happened we were going to have to sweep Bama to get the bye. Sad part is Bama only scored 2 runs in the last 2 games of our series with them yet we could only win one because we couldn't score either. Our offense is obviously too pathetic to earn a bye.

Ah, but they also finished with fewer losses....

They had a higher winning percentage plain and simple. No valid complaint on our part. I thought that 2 of 3 from bama would get us in the top 4 because either USC would lose 2 of 3 on the road at vandy or Auburn would take one from LSU at home. The first one almost happened but didn't. The second didn't come close to happening as auburn had obviously already folded the tent before the weekend started.

Ultimately though it matters little from the tourney's perspective. We were not going to host anyway because we lost TWICE to RPI 211 Holy Cross and to RPI 101 Jax State. What would have been nice would have been to gain a share of the West but didn't happen.

What we need to get out of the SECT is work for our tier 2 pitchers and role hitters. Would be nice to win tomorrow and play at least 3 but may go home after 1. I do HATE the single elim format in round 1 though. Limit the tournament to 8 teams period.
