Guys, it has gotten off the charts weird at USM now. First the President steps down because she refused to go along with IHL board and hire someone besides General Jeff Hammond as AD. Now the rumors are at viral stage that John Hartwell, the associate AD at Ole Miss is going to be named the AD at USM with the backing of the IHL.

Now I tell you, I am not saying it for sure won't happen, but the craziness just the rumor has caused is beyond hilarious. I have my popcorn and just going to sit back and watch this play out over the next two days. It is truly amazing what reading a message board rumor can do to grown men. By the way, I don't believe that is what is going to happen. In my heart I have to believe General Hammond's supporters win out. Now back to the show.....

anyone will be hired without his okay. Dr. Lucas is pretty damned shrewd. Shame he won't stay, he could help them sort out that $$ shortage in the athletic department.

And I have been kind of wondering the past few days if his daughter Frances (VP at USM Gulf Coast; former Millsaps President & MSU alumnus) might succeed Saunders.

I could see it if it were some ladies finishing school, like Virginia College, some School For Hair Design, or Ole Miss. However, the day we gave them the vote I knew something like this would happen.

He's about 77-78 years old now. I think this is the second time he's been interim president & he was also the interim IHL leader when Meredith resigned.

He's pissed off too many of the few big money donors they have. If they do hire him it'll be the dumbest thing they could possibly do. An army general is the last type of person you want to be an AD, he has no marketing skills and doesn't know how to suck up to people. He's really good at pissing people off though. As a state fan living in Hattiesburg I hope they hire him, it'll only set them back even farther.

Frances Lucas got run out of Millsaps by everyone from the faculty to donors. She was extremely unpopular and left the school in bad financial shape.
