has a constituency to please, but I'm sure all his info is accurate. I also feel sure that Mitchell would have dug into the victim's elementary school history if he thought he could find some dirt. Anything to rationalize the actions of the perps.

The obvious question to me that this article raises is whether or not Sanderson was a student. If so, god bless his soul, but HOW and WHY in the HELL did we let this thug into our university? Shouldn't there have been some red flags in the background check? What am I missing here?

troubled past but was trying to get his life together. I think when the facts come out the perps will point the finger at the victim but in no way will it justify murder. Just a gut feeling.<div>

How does any of that "rationalize the actions of the perps?" In case you missed it, he also gave the criminal histories of the perps. And it's definitely pertinent to understanding what type of crime we're dealing with here. It's one thing to have an innocent student murdered out of the blue on campus, it's another to have criminal with a long history being killed in a drug deal gone wrong.

? Yea, I assume we would do background checks. I also want to point out that when someone like this graduates from MSU it degrades every single one of our degrees. I am all for troubled people being given a second chance, but for many reasons, if we want to take the next step as a university then we have limit People like this from ever getting on campus in the first place, much less as students.

The only thing that degrades a degree from a university is lowered academic standards both for entry and for completion of degree requirements.

One guy getting shot doesn't make the entire university an unsavory place - that's just crazy.

How long would you hold someone's mistakes against them? If he served his sentence, he should be allowed to attend university as long as he meets the requirements.

because I doubt if it is even legal for any public university in the country to do backgrounds checks. We certainly don't do it and I would be shocked if anyone else does. We also don't do random drug tests of students. We also tore down that fence around campus that was apparently here when (if) you were here.

So every student arrested that graduates negatively effects your degree? That is the worst post I have ever seen on any board but I will give you the benefit of the doubt that your emotional about this situation. Do you know how many students get arrested and then graduate? Hell, ivy league even. No employer has ever questioned a degree b/c students graduate from there w/arrest. Step back and think about your dumb idea before you actually tell anyone in real life

There is a convicted murderer at Tulane law right now on a NAACP schollie. Does that effect the other students degree prestige? Absolutely not. Tulane law is still Tulane law
