Yes, I think it's humorous after 12 years here and I kind of grew up in the SEC if our game had been in the SEC Saturday, they would have said what a great, tough SEC game. This is the way they win down here - they run the ball, they play defense. In the Big 12 they say that's sloppy. I can't believe that's sloppy. So we're all spread offense and it's not a tough league. I thought it was two great defenses on Saturday.

We tried the "two great defenses" angle. It didn't work for us either. Your pals, Tommy and Sly

His last 2 defensive coordinators have been Will Muschamp and Gene Chizik, both of which were SEC defensive coordinators. The Big 12 uses SEC defensive minds to try and bolster their arguement that they are a legit all around conference instead of a bunch of teams that run up the scoreboard and can't defend anybody. So when a team actually plays decent defense, those other teams will look sloppy because they can't do what they usually do, which is score points. Any time a team isn't able to execute their gameplan, it's usually called playing sloppy.

Don't they have a top 5 or top 10 recruiting class every year?

I recall one good year when they played USC in the BCS Champ game. What else can they show for their talent? Going 1-2 against Sherrill's MSU teams?

like he's complimenting the SEC and complaining that a good defensive battle is considered sloppy to Big XII people and he doesn't agree.

It almost sounded like to me that he was getting upset at the media/SEC for getting more attention and playing up SEC games that end up as defensive battles between teams. I guess I interpreted it as a little bit of a media slam for not giving the Texas Oklahoma game the same type of media attention that they would have given an SEC game that was played the same way.

Mr. FlabLoser, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think he was taking a shot at the media's coverage of the SEC. As much as Mack loves to whine, I think he kind of has a point. Texas beats a top-20 team (a likely top 10 team with their QB) in a sloppy game and the media bashes Texas. Bama beats a top-20 team (that probably won't be there at the end of the season) in a sloppy game and gets moved up to number 1.

I see the double standard, but it's not Mack's place to question that, especially at this point. Didn't Mack give Texas a first place vote a few years ago just to get them an at-large BCS bid? What a joke

David McWilliams was their coach in 1991 and John Mackovic in 1992. They had won the SWC in 1990. 1991, UT was preseason top 10 or so when they came to Starkville and got beat in Sherrill's 2nd game. Spiraled them downhill to 5-6 and got McWilliams fired. We beat the piss out of them in Austin in 1992.

Bottom line, Flabloser knows literally nothing about sports and, to compound that problem, is completely incapable of googling.

that Oklahoma and Texas Tech both had defenses that got torched by SEC teams last year in bowls. Also, I think Oklahoma State gave up a ton of points to Oregon and struggled against them, but I can't remember if they won or not.

Dear Coach Brown, they are calling your game with OU sloppy not because it was low scoring, but because there were a combined 8 turnovers. That sir, is sloppy *** football.

Anyone noticed
_________________________________________________

how Southern Cal has declined since Orgeron left? Seems like they used to be no. 1 or near number 1 every year and since Orgeron left they are just another team. I don't know how much Orgeron had to do with their decline, but it is interesting nevertheless.

Thank goodness level heads called him out for this.

Oklahoma team that is now .500 and has a loss to BYU and played at 12:00 on Saturday (is that a tradition or did they get relegated to the early slot?) and got overshadowed by the SEC. The funny thing is that he has a relatively easy path to the title game whereas UF and Bama will probably have to play each other. Who will UT have to play? Nebraska?

Prior to the National Championship with Young, many UT people were dissatisfied with Mack's results vs the expectations. (Therein lies the problem - the expectations were national title every year.) They were paying him all that money, getting top ranked recruiting classes, but the payoff was Holiday and Cotton Bowls. Losing four or five in a row to Stoops wasn't helping him either.

and underachieving are two different things. UT has always had high and probably unreasonable expectations. Bottom line, he's something like 62-8 the last 5 years. That is not underachieving.

that expecting more than one Big 12 title in the same span when OU has won 6 is an unreasonable expectation. Fact of the matter is that for the better part of Brown's tenure the Big 12 has been OU, Texas, and 10 average-below average teams.

I lived in Texas 10 years prior to 2004 and the daily buz for years on end was how Longhorn fans are sick of Mac Brown.

He finally wins a national championship. Well good. BCS bowls...for winning the Big 12? WOW 17ING AMAZING....

He's still underachieved for the most part.
