If this is the best Clemson can do with their money, conference, and prestige, what makes you think we could've done better? Especially when you throw in we have no AD.

Sherrill had 7 winning seasons (out of 7 we went to 6 bowl games)
Stans 10 (out of the 10 we only went to 6 NCAAT)
point: its easier to have a winning season in basketball than it is in football (going 21 and 10 gets you a trip to the NIT. a crappy year.)

Sherrill reached post season play 6 times
Stans reached post season play 6 times

Sherrill had a new year's day bowl and 3 peach bowls
Stans hasn't made it past the second round of the tournament but I'll say that reaching the 2nd round is like making a peach bowl. I really don't think its equal but to try and be objective i'll put them on the same page.
point: what sherrill accomplished was much great than what Stans did

Sherrill won the west 1 time
Stans won the west 4 times
I'd rather win 1 western division title in football every 10 years than to win EVERY western title for 10 years in basketball. why? B/c winning the west in basketball doesn't mean **** if you don't do something after that. Winning it in football gets you to Atlanta. Most of America watches that game.

Stans does have an overall title. It was amazing, but he did flop in the tournament to a hot Xavier team.
Stans does have 2 conference tournament titles, but Sherrill didn't have this option.

I think what Sherrill accomplished was more than what Stans has, but lets call them equal (I can't see how you could say what Stans did is greater. I could see equal but not greater.)

My point is that Sherrill was/is a legend at MSU and when he lost it he got canned. Told to hit the road. Sent on his way. But you guys think it is absurd to even consider firing him or forcing him to make a change.
