There is a good chance there is no longer any such thing as a "one and done" by the time he signs.

Rule wouldn't start immediately. Newman's class will be the last one to be able to leave before they turn 20. One and done doesn't have **** to do with it. It's 19 right now and will be 20 the year after Newman is a freshman. If it gets approved and it sounds like it will.

Can someone explain

Could be two and done. NBA looking to push the age rule into the NBA draft to two years out of HS.

How this is not a case of age discrimination? If a company tells someone "we're not hiring you because of your age," it is guaranteed to lose a lawsuit. Is the threshold for age discrimination 21 and above? I've never understood how this hasn't been challenged in court. What loophole do the NBA and NFL use?

think it's because they negotiate with the players union to get it passed. This time they are raising the DLeague pay to keep the players happy so they sign off on the extra year added.

It's because of the unions. It has been challenged- ask Maurice Clarett.

Veteran players love such a rule, so the unions of course push it through whenever they can.

It's also best for the players in the long run. Collective bargaining

Is the term isn't it? It's also not the only job in the country with an age minimum. But ultimately the players will be better which is good for the league and the players. And their pockets.

I think I have posted before......and I'll post again

That Newman will come to State.....and with Ray's tweets I am extremely confident - in addition to the facts.

Do you really think Newman only goes high in the NBA draft IF he goes to UK or another elite program? Watch him play.....

Horatio? Cool. I've probably bumped into you while talking with him at the Y on Fortification.

Word I've heard around MBA is that Horatio is asking $400,000. I've heard some say he's joking about it. Others say he's serious. I haven't spoken directly to Horatio, though, since last AAU season.

Speaking of the DLeague, if/when the age limit for the NBA increases, the DLeague should become a place for more HS players or college dropouts to go play. The age increase could make the DLeague an even more respected minor league than it currently is. Progress has been made by leaps over the last 6ish years in that league and this could help even more.

HS players can go to the DLeauge like Latavious Williams did. They can get paid for 2 seasons while playing more games than in college, playing against much better competition than college, and have access to more practice and an NBA style of management.

If your son is going to be a millionaire in a couple years why would you ask for 400K to get him to a college?

So you're saying if I told you I might give you a million dollars tomorrow, you wouldn't take 400K today?

Problem is they are currently paying the players **** money. Like really really bad $15,000 salary type **** money. The new raise in pay is supposedly up to $40,000 salary. That's brutal. If I'm a player I'm playing overseas for 500k+ over playing for less money than the dishwasher at Applebee's makes.

Or they could do both

Just make sure Applebee's will let you off for games and practice

Applebee's pays their dishwashers $40,000+/year? Sign me up.
