@RickRay1: Ricky Bobby's dad said "you are either 1st or last". Well, I am about to be 1st AND last when I meet with a recruit today in Jackson!

Son, I was high when I said that. There are any number of other places you can finish. You can be second, you can be third.....

Interpreted: We will be the first to meet with a 6-2, 165lb three man (stretch four). We will offer on the spot, he will commit and no one else will visit him.

He's going out of his way to make sure everyone knows how hard he's recruiting Newman, that's for sure...

He's pulled out every logical stop he can to get Malik. Time will tell...

Hahahaha!!

The only thing I saw was Ray saying we're last. Only thing that I took away from his tweet.

Visitation ends tomorrow. Ray is Newman's last suitor. Ray is also Newman's first rejection.

All of his eggs are basically in that basket...
Not that we can't be decent without Newman -- but securing that one signee is essentially enough to get him extended back to the 4-year max. And as of right now -- we're sitting pretty with him -- especially if he can convince some of his buddies to come with him...

I don't know how or why you think we're "sitting pretty with him". I think if he pushes his decision back to the spring we are in better shape. He wants to go to a team that wins and he wants to get to the NBA fast. I give us a 5% chance.

The only shot we have with Newman is if Calipari goes to the NBA. Hell, even Duke and Kansas can't take recruits away from UK anymore.

You know

Horatio? Cool. I've probably bumped into you while talking with him at the Y on Fortification.

If you know him that well -- you know a lot has changed in the past month or two.

I'm still not saying that we're going to get him -- but where there was once zero chance and he was open about that reality -- there's now a pretty good chance -- and he's just as open about that as well...

I never

If you know him that well -- you know a lot has changed in the past month or two.

said that nothing has changed.

I just stated that he wasn't coming to State, and that my definition of "sitting pretty" and yours must be different.

I'm not sure what that has to do with Horatio lying to you.

Engie is playing this perfectly

If he doesn't go to State, he never said he would, but if he does, he totally said it was possible.

This guy is a one and done right? I'm not sure signing him is worth a four year extension, but I'd certainly be thrilled to have him for one year. And yes, I know there is zero chance we sign him.

I find his tweets about what he is doing on the recruiting trail amateurish and a bit embarrassing frankly. I'm trying to imagine Coach K, Rick Pitino, Tom Izzo, etc. tweeting something before and after every meeting with a recruit and I'm pretty sure that that just doesn't happen.

Could be two and done. NBA looking to push the age rule into the NBA draft to two years out of HS.

We don't recruit like Coach K, Pitino, or Izzo.
We don't get the same level of recruits and we need to differentiate ourselves from the other 100 programs that we are even with in terms of prestige. Hitting the tweets hard is fine by me if its something that is different from most others. Gotta make a name somehow.

I was thinking he's playing next year, but you're right, it may be in effect by then. I personally want the baseball rule, you can go out of high school but if you don't it's three years.

I like how Rambis calmly reeled Engie in, then when Engie played the Horatio card - BOOM, Rambis went all YMCA on him. Check. Mate. That's called going all-in folks. A ballsy play, but high-risk. Round 1, Rambis.

There is a good chance there is no longer any such thing as a "one and done" by the time he signs.

The only thing surprising about this response is that it wasn't another thousand word "non-obsessed" Engie parody...
