It looks like the averages are pretty spot on when you think about the public perception of the football programs. Historically, we are equals with Baylor, Cal, Duke, Illinois, Minnesota, MSSt, Purdue, Rutgers, SMU and UVA.

Why not us? Because we’re not a blue blood that’s why; the list speaks volumes, yes.

Legacy, cool points with peers, favoritism from officials and conferences, and now donors; that’s a tough hill to climb.

Teams AVERAGE conference championships? That can't be.

No, not average championships, but the additional bowl games and championships could be why the other teams have more games per season over time.

I also assumed there was some questionable rounding going on, to give some teams only 10 games a year.

Also, pre-1950 or so, there was a lot of variance in the number of games each team played each season. SC wasn't regularly playing 10+ games a year until around the middle of the 20th Century. I'm sure some programs were playing that many games every season a lot earlier.

In 1955, SC played 9 games. In 1965, SC played 10 games. 11 game schedules didn't really become the norm until around 1970. From 1925 until 1970, football seasons were generally 8 to 10 games.
