They were in the state finals in 2012 and 2017 and semis in 2016.I don't think they ever won the conference, but they usually made the playoffs. Strong program year in and out.

As a Sterling fan I really miss the NIB 12. I’m not liking our new conference, we’re playing mostly all 7A and 8A schools now other than Geneseo and Alleman.
I agree on the Lisle and Westmont comment......they just seem out of place as suburban schools in a rural conference. The Manteno to sandwich drives had to be brutal or the Herscher to Lisle drives as well. I'm trying to come up with my dream conference and might post something later today if I get the time.
8 team
Wilmo
CC
Morris
Herscher
Manteno
Peotone
Sandwich
Plano
10 team (least desirable)

The last two are hard to come up with .......idk who else to pick
Streator
Ottawa
I have heard Pontiac isn't really happy with their conference, them and Prairie Central combo could become a possibility at some point maybe???
Any insight why Morris didn’t get in? Their enrollment is down a bit and may have ended up being a nice fit. Particularly in non Football sports.Could of stayed 2 divisions. Large and Small.
Large
Sandwich
Morris
Plano
Streator
Manteno
Coal City
Small
Wilmington
Peotone
Herscher
RC
Lisle
Westmont
Two cross over games a year. 2 find your own games. Large division is pretty solid year in year out. Wilmington can continue dominating the Small, RC would be thrilled since they could beat Westmont year in and year out. Now Plano and Sandwich are playing in a conference they have no shot in. Plus it keeps the girls and boys conference basketball tournaments going and keeps the other sports competitive
Not enough of the smaller schools voted yes. I think CC and either Plano or Sandwich and Streator voted yes. But it was only like 3 or 4 teams. I think they would of been a great fit in all sports. Sure they would win a lot of football conference titles but in all other sports they would fit in and make the conference really deep. But it didn’t happenAny insight why Morris didn’t get in? I love high school wrestling and even though Plano and Sandwich have been down the last couple of years, losing them will hurt. The conference as far as wrestling goes will be bad. Don’t see anyone even competing with Coal City. And I loved the mid season conference tournament. Won’t have that now eitherMorris would’ve been a perennial favorite in football but obviously Coal City can hang. I think Wilmington would do okay also. The other contenders might struggle, but look at the alternative. Bringing Morris in to replace Seneca would have been the ideal move. Still weird that the I8 is what it is.
The source I use must be incorrect then because it shows Quincy and RI as 8A and the others 7A??i liked the nib12 too. but the wb6 is a good fit (in football) for sterling. and to clarify, there are no 8A schools in the wb6. moline and quincy are 7a, galesburg, rock island and east moline are 6a.
