AL.COM on Freeze hiring process

Not sure how relevant all this is in today's recruiting world, but I found it interesting anyway.

Following multiple inquiries from member schools, Sankey sent out a memo in 2018 specifically outlining what it would take for any school to hire Freeze. Article says Sankey specifically discouraged Saban from adding Freeze as an on field coach

In 2020, a new memo was sent out for the requirements to hire any coach that had been found guilty of Level 1 NCAA violations. Head coaches or assistants. Auburn is apparently jumping through those hoops, and outlining how they will keep Freeze under control.

The article goes on to outline all the restrictions the SEC put on hiring Freeze, but that’s the headline chosen.

One must parse carefully. The distinction is between “prohibit” and “discourage.” More succinctly and accurately, the Bham brass “disincentivized” the hiring of horntoad.
