Fyfe will start, darlington will be backup. Tommy will not play. Hamstring injuries are the type you cannot play thru even with shots. So my gut tells me is that io_a will spear, twist, stomp, punch, kick, bite, do whatever they can get away with to target his arm. And, their offensive line will play perfect and not get one flag all night for holding. We better win this game.......

Ferentz is finishing up his 18th season at Iowa. Hardly a perfect coach but I'm not sure you can come up with many examples during that time where his teams played dirty.
Northwestern's Brett Basanez accused Iowa's Chad Greenway of "headhunting" and playing dirty in 2005. This is literally the only time I can remember this kind of accusation leveled at Iowa in Kirk's 18 seasons.
And for the record, Greenway is in his 11th season in the NFL and no one has accused him of this since.

I have no problem with Iowa going after Fyfe's wrist. I don't believe it is at all dirty. To be clear, I am talking about during the play, like if on a sack, the defensive player targets Fyfe's left side or swipes down across the arm on the tackle.
I have never seen Iowa play dirty but this is football and **** happens at the bottom of the pile. Maybe Nebraskas O-line better make sure he dont get sacked.
I'd think they'd want Fyfe in there instead of darlington because they have tape on Fyfe. He's not an elite QB and he's not at 100%. They likely want him to play.

I wouldn't even call it dirty. If the shoe were on the other foot I wouldn't be surprised to see nebraska dole out some hard hits to try to jar the ball lose. It's one thing if it were a knee... going for the knee is dicey and could be considered dirty. But this is where he holds the ball. What else is Iowa supposed to do? Don't know about twist, stomp, etc., but this is tackle football...

sparty is the only team that I would really consider dirty in the conf from what i've seen. psu if you count off the field.
