In many respects this game was a classic defensive field position battle. 4 of Iowa's scores came on short (shorter) field positions.

Iowa's scoring started at the 49,21,46,50 RU 9 (from the INT). Resulting in FG,FG,TD,FG,TD. On the one drive starting from the 21 they had one 54 completion when the TE got behind our DBs.

Now obviously if our offense was more productive they would have started farther back but on the three shorter fields (49,46,50) these were the results of punts of 30,36 and 35 yards.

Our starting position for each drive was : 30,21,10,25,25,26,25,25. The 21 and 10 yard starts were results of a 46 yard and 50 punts.

Appleby was good at pining them back on his first two punts, but deep from our own territory when we needed to boom it out there were some bad punts.
