He has yet to play a down in football, even when he was healthy his redshirt year. And football is very generous in letting redshirt play.

Then injured or disinterested. Thanks for the FB update, didn't know that, don't follow FB that closely, and Iowa not at all.

I don't need 4 paragraphs of rules explaining to know that was a ******** stall call on Gabe. Strangely I have become a fan of him through this hell on earth BS he has endured.
Did Gabe spend a weekend at Camp Crystal Lake that I don’t know about?

If i was going to put forth the effort of praying and hoping, I am just asking that Gabe beats out Ferrari for the spot.

Picturing Ferarri and Gabe wrestling i am wondering exactly where do they meet on the mat to engage and wrestle. Ferrari is dropping to a knee sliding backwards and Gabe just wants to hug an ear.

285- Konnor Doucet vs. Gage Marty

Period 1:
Keuter gets the night off & Marty steps in to take his place. Marty works the tie-up & push strategy to start the match. Doucet gets a TD, 3-0, then looks for back points. He gets a couple exposures, but can't hold Marty long enough for points. Doucet rides out the period. 3-0.

Period 2:
Doucet takes down & quickly gets an escape, 4-0. Doucet pressures forward & picks up another TD on the edge, 7-0. Marty gets an escape, 7-1. Doucet presses forward. Marty gets a 2nd stall warning & Doucet gets another point, 8-1. Doucet presses forward again & picks up another TD, just before the period ends, 11-1.

Period 3:
Marty takes down & gets the escape, 11-2. Doucet presses forward & adds another TD, 14-2. Doucet works a Navy ride. He hits a tilt & then gets the fall.

Konnor Doucet FALL Gage Marty (5:53)

Final Team Score:

OKST: 32
IOWA: 11
Embarrassing for Iowa. High chance worse next year.
Really stupid was letting Real Estate Bob become the leader of the program in exchange for a couple of bucks.
I personally think if Ferrari, Endeme, and normal Keuter were wrestling Iowa would have won that march 20-18 estimate. But something is very off at Iowa.

The current Keuter is the now normal Keuter. Ferrari may have won, but it probably woukd have been SV and Endeme isn't there because of Bob.

Oklahoma st 7-3 on paper we will see who shows up to wrestle
Shocking that Burroughs would lose objectivity last night and declare that OklaSt can win it all in March. Really?

Jax was the only wrestler I saw that would not be a surprise to win a championship. Vega is not beating Mendez, but could finish 2nd or 3rd. He wasn’t very impressive the first two periods against Iowa’s backup. As for the other eight wrestlers, who else impressed? Maybe Burroughs should reacquaint himself with PSU’s lineup again.

For the natty’s, maybe ESPN could have Tim Johnson do play by play, Burroughs and Rader be analysts, and Corby on the floor for interviews.

Seems like one or two PSU guys have taken Olympic shirts during that cycle. Admittedly, I would presume a larger percentage of the PSU roster will likely qualify for one in 2028, but my guess is that PSU still fields a quality team and many/most will forego those Olympic redshirts.
There might be one or two as you suggested, but I would bet the schedule will be arranged to give the guys what they need as far as dates to wrestle around and rest. The kids who compete will maintain their competitive and conditioning edge. The shirts used to be more of a necessity because of the brutality of the season. Iowa kids need the break, PSU and Oklahoma State train differently and probably benefit from not taking the break.

Correct, not to mention that some of the top wrestlers really do have other ambitions rather than being on a collegiate roster for 5, 6 or 8 years. There was a time when it was about roster management and giving kids a chance to start for an extra year, but I think we're starting to see that some of the very top kids have higher aspirations with freestyle than with folk anyway and there's less need for and less desire to take an Olympic redshirt.

Penn St wins by 50 or more. Appreciate you putting me on the floor 🤣.

Speculation about finalist 2 years out is folly, however in an Oly year OSU has at least 7 top 4 guys in the pipeline right now, and I am sure I am missing some.

Jax, Vega, Robideau, Ross, Rainey twins, Lockett

It's hard to argue the battle won't be pretty close by then.

I don't know how much the slumlord spent on Peterson, Bailey, Williams, and Endene, but I'm guessing it will be over $30,000 per NCAA point.

He was right, though, about a level playing field. Iowa is leveling off, while ISU, Nebraska, and the OSUs are leveling up.

Tom has never really cared about allocations. If you can't place top 8-9 in the big 10 you probably aren't gonna place at the NCAAs. They're not gonna run around the country to opens to allocate a spot

His kids would follow him, but Iowa doesn't have enough money to make it happen. DT's got a good thing going where he is, and he has a bit of real cowboy in him.

It will be an interesting off season in Iowa. JB, Dake, Nolf, and Spencer will all be discussed all over HR.
David’s not a *****, unlike all the portal boys in CFB. He won’t leave OSU for Iowa. I’ve got my money on Pat Pop moving west.

You can add VT to your list of teams getting stronger in the future. Not a pretty picture for Iowa's future. Definitely going to struggle to get in the top 5 going forward.

Bob said they would pass us so quickly after the playing field had been leveled that the dust would settle by the time we got to where they had just been.

Whole lotta potential overlap there. We'll see.

One thing to remember: if OKST hasn't won a title by then (and they won't), then their guys will be under immense pressure to NOT take an Olympic shirt.

I don't expect many (or any?) PSU guys to take it either, but the decision process will be significantly different.

That plus: how many of those guys are really not gonna qualify anyway?

Most or all of them will steal a spot. A couple might be at risk of not getting an At Large, but it probably won't come down to that.

But I can definitely see this pissing off other B10 coaches. It's not 1 guy -- up to 40% of their lineup will likely steal spots. 50% if Brands commits to Petersen after the last coaches poll. And some of those guys probably could've gotten allocations.
