Another thing that bothered me about the Mat Official in this dual was the fact that of all the stalling he called, not a single stall call was made when the wrestlers were mat wrestling except for the mandatory 5 second count on Robideau. Robideau should have been dinged for multiple stalls during that absurd stall-ride. Even at the end, after the last stoppage (there was 15 seconds on the clock), Robideau simply laid on top - literally just laid on him for the final 15 seconds not even moving and the Official had zero problem with it. Robideau's entire RT-Advantage was nothing but bs riding.... pressing forward after bottom wrestler stood forcing him into a tripod.... running around the mat in a rear-standing position after the bottom wrestler had stood eventually pushing him out-of-bounds to gain a restart, extend his bs-ride and accumulate more bs riding-time..... forward pressure after a sit out and just sitting in that position........ etc....)
Folk needs to institute a mandatory count that if the top wrestler cannot break the bottom wrestler down from their base and improve towards, and show control towards being able to score from the top, within 30 seconds then the wrestlers should be put on their feet, no points awarded. There is way too much "defensive riding" in folk that has nothing to do with advancement, or control, toward scoring from the top position - the bottom wrestler should not be punished for these bs, desperation, stall-rides... and the top wrestler absolutely should not be rewarded for this bs including a RT point and often the match in the NCAA's match-determining TB nonsense. If the top wrestler has done nothing to improve his position and control towards scoring after 30 consecutive seconds, the bottom wrestler is by definition carrying the action (i.e., it is a defensive ride - the top wrestler is just doing whatever the can to maintain riding-time but is doing nothing towards scoring from the top...) and should not be punished by riding time accruing against them when they are carrying all the action that is aimed at attempting to score. At the very least, if the top wrestler has shown zero improvement towards scoring (i.e., breaking bottom wrestler down from their base) then RT should stop and wrestlers should be put in Neutral.
