So was there talk of a legitimate injury for Kueter before the score was out of hand?
The kid has been dealing with the after effects of hip surgery. I explained on HR last spring or summer that while he would heal he would not be himself until the second year of recovery. Lost power that was not going to be recovered this year. Him struggling should not be a surprise. Lack of power and strength along with chronic pain makes him in my mind susceptible to other nagging injuries.
The kid wrestles for Iowa so I won't be expending much energy rooting for him, but I hope he wrestles healthy next year and Mirasola beats the tar out of a healthy Kueter.

Bob said they would pass us so quickly after the playing field had been leveled that the dust would settle by the time we got to where they had just been.
And, note, I searched for his exact post using several search terms I knew would be in it, and it’s gone. I’m sure a lot of his prematurely boastful posts have been deleted now that he really looks like a clown

6 Hawk wrestlers without a TD. Do they practice TDs or scramble situations?
Saw an open practice where some guys were pushing each other, but they were mostly just giving each other homemade tats and dyeing their hair while TnT made wide-eye tough guy faces. Saw one guy take like 8 shots on the takedown dummy. He got stuffed on 7 of them and out scrambled and gave up the TD on the other one while Morningstar was pointing at the dummy and yelling stalling.

It's fine to have faith in the guy, but pump they brakes on "juggernaut". There was a time when the Brands looked to be putting together a "juggernaut".

Right now, I think they lose to the Bugeyes..
The poster stated that DT "looks to be putting together a juggernaut". Okie State is not at that level quite yet, but the rapid improvement under DT is obvious.

What's also obvious is the talent that DT is assembling, as seen in the following Flo final P4P recruit rankings:

Class of 2025
Lockett (3)
Robideau (5)
Vega (7)
Routledge (28)
Ramirez (30)
Austin Johnson (54)
Guerrero (58)
Hickman (92)

2026
Forrest (1)
Ross (4)
Rainey (5)
Rainey (6)
Zinkin (11)
White (55) (seems underrated)

2027 (final rankings still pending)
Villasenor (7)
Hodgins (9)

Pop is an awfully good coach, but you think he's a big enough splash for them? I'm not seeing it from their side.
Fair enough. Iowa does need a “splash” hire. I live in ACC territory (also a very long time PSU season ticket holder) and I attend 2-3 of their matches each year. Something is off at NCS this year and Pop looks demoralized. If I had to guess, I’d say he’s not looking forward to playing second fiddle (to VT) in a second fiddle conference. At the same time, I’d bet that he’d like to display his coaching chops in the BIG. Whiskey or Iowa look like potential landing spots as TNT & Bono seem to have played out their string. It won’t be Whiskey because they are not fully invested in wrestling. Bethie has to do something in Iowa City and I’m sure she understands the fan base reluctance to hire a PSU star … so I’m thinking she might entertain an approach from Pat Pop.

Again, he's recruiting, that's indisputable. Ryan recruits well too.

There's a belief that he'll automatically transfer his success to his team.

I already gave the list of names who haven't developed, so that belief isn't yet reality.

Yesterday's dual says as much about Iowa's decline as OK State's ascent.

I like betting against overvalued, overhyped stocks. Right now, DT is the new tech stock that's attracting a lot of venture capital. Still no/low earnings. I'd short DT to go long CS.

By the way, I think Mendez MD's Vega if they meet. As for Forrest's big win over Ayala, either Ayala is spent after five years of the beatings continue until the morale improves or he's got a bad case of senioritis and can't get that diploma fast enough. Merrill and Doucet aren't going to be pinning room guys next month. Hopefully, Ryder and Lockett get the stalling calls they deserve.

I have never had a hip operation, but I ruptured my patella tendon once. It took me 10 months to get to my top level of strength and a few more months to exceed it. However, by then I was only lifting, not doing athletic stuff and I was in my 50s.

Speculation about finalist 2 years out is folly, however in an Oly year OSU has at least 7 top 4 guys in the pipeline right now, and I am sure I am missing some.

Jax, Vega, Robideau, Ross, Rainey twins, Lockett

It's hard to argue the battle won't be pretty close by then.

Whole lotta potential overlap there. We'll see.

One thing to remember: if OKST hasn't won a title by then (and they won't), then their guys will be under immense pressure to NOT take an Olympic shirt.

I don't expect many (or any?) PSU guys to take it either, but the decision process will be significantly different.
In the years ahead I can see the Pokes being competitive with us in the lower weights, although I agree that there’s a lot of overlap.

I’m not seeing them being as competitive in the upper weights. Short of a bunch of PSU OLRS’s, it’s hard imagine Lockett, Facundo, Ryder, and Merrill seriously challenging PSU’s lineup in the 65-97 range.

Shocking that Burroughs would lose objectivity last night and declare that OklaSt can win it all in March. Really?

Jax was the only wrestler I saw that would not be a surprise to win a championship. Vega is not beating Mendez, but could finish 2nd or 3rd. He wasn’t very impressive the first two periods against Iowa’s backup. As for the other eight wrestlers, who else impressed? Maybe Burroughs should reacquaint himself with PSU’s lineup again.

For the natty’s, maybe ESPN could have Tim Johnson do play by play, Burroughs and Rader be analysts, and Corby on the floor for interviews.
It's not happening this year, but you can see what they are building towards there. This year, they will come in second, although not really a close second. By next year, they will be leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else and will be moderately competitive with PSU. In two years, it's going to look a lot different. I'm here for it, too. It's great watching Penn State smash everyone else, but it'll be even better to have actual competition. I hope Cael and DT work out a series of duals as well. I get not wanting to go to national duals and wrestle 4 extra matches in November, but I think they can find a day to have a one off between the top two teams in the country.
