Let's assume he is a sure thing even though no one really is and he has MSU as an annual top25 program and every year in the NCAA tournament. Wouldn't he more than pay for his high salary with revenue and exposure etc...I thought $2 was our ceiling but if we can get him at $2.5 it seems like MSU should pony up the cash imo.

than he costs why is it too much? The overall would be more money than MSU started with.

For us to go from $1.5 with a 14 year coach to $2.5 for a newbee...
You, please make the case, include $ and cents, that's what it come down to.(Facts)

Can he recruit our area, for MSU?
Does he/ will he fit into our culture?

Lot of questions to be answered.

and I agree with that...I'd love to have Shaka- but 2M goes a long way in Starkville, Ms

We have alot of people interested in our job- we dont need to break the bank for one guy...especially when Illinois is offering 2.5 or so already- why get in a bidding war?

If you believe Clay Travis, we'll soon be getting making tens of millions per year from an SEC network deal. We can send a couple million of that over to get the best possible basketball coach.

We are NOT going to pay our basketball coach equivalent money to what we are paying Mullen now which is around 2.6 million. We've got other things going on in our athletics to pay for rather than break the bank on a basketball coach. Fan wise we are still a football school even though we've had more relative success in basketball.

wanted to get rid of Stansbury, 1.3 was fine with him but to the rest of big time college it is not.It will take 2 plus million to get a good coach. Face it money wise Stans was a good deal .Want to guess what Memphis pays Pastner a year ? Try 2.1 million. We will have to just about double Stans pay to get a good coach.

Most people on the board thinks the current salary will get a great coach it won't, I still believe it will take over 2 mil. to get your buddy Gregg at least .
