Maybe due to the fact that I've been a lifetime MSU fan, but something here is very very wrong. I know we lost Hud and Diaz. I expected a couple commits to waver based on the moves. And I know that every other recruiter out there is using our involvement in the Cam debacle against us.And with good reason. It could very well be that MSU now has blood on its hands with the NCAA and SEC. There is no way we come through the whole investigation smelling like a rose. Whether the athlete comes here or not, that's something that won't go away and it's sure to be fodder for other recruits when steering kids.

"They tried to blow the whistle because they lost a recruiting battle and they wound up with a booster and an agent with MSU ties getting caught themselves. You go there and you'll get caught in that mess that's coming to 'em... There won't be any rings for you after the NCAA puts 'em on probation and no bowls." etc etc.

Hell, it's not that hard to get that into a 17 yr old kids head and make it stick. Feel free to tear my argument apart, but knowing MSU's luck in the past the hammer will probably fall on us somehow in the end. Seems like it does when we start to build up a head of steam and put together some success.

It's the right question.

In my mind, there is no doubt that scam is affecting our class in a big way. What's more amazing to me is that, despite the fact that 99.9% of the people on the planet know that AU is dirty as hell and will eventually get hammered, they are about to sign a very strong class. Very strong. So, why is their staff able to cope with the threat and we can't seem to cope?

The conclusion I draw, then, is that there's something "extra" going on in Mississippi that is not going on as prominently in west georgia.

With all due respect to nafoom ****, of course.

Camgate could be hurting us in another way besides other schools instilling fear in recruits that we're going to get punished. While I believe most, if not all, of the supposed evidence of UM cheating to flip our recruits is complete and utter bull, I can easily see other schools, particularly Houston Nutt, telling recruits they don't want to play for a "snitch" like us, what with the taboo of being such in much of today's society and culture.

for a winning program....top recruits know we wont pay and the rebs are capitolizing on that...oh the irony, thanks a lot NCAA ....bty, if cam was declared eligible then why would we be in trouble trying to continue to recruit an eligible player ?

We're looking at this through the eyes of Joe Message Board Poster. Our perception of our school is probably not the way the 17 yr old underpriviliged kid views our school. Chances are they don't have a history of any sort with us and can only base their decision on the relationship that they get from the coaches or fanbase - which is why blowing up CJs facebook page was not the way to win him over.
So throw in the snitch line and that's more deadweight against any relationship that a coach can try to build with someone who doesn't have strong family ties to the school or program.

A lot of OM people say that "MSU is not our rival....LSU IS! blah blah blah", but all I know is that an OM loss to LSU pales in comparison to a loss to MSU (not to mention 2 with an impeding 3rd).

That combined with a shitting-the-bed season has led the powers that be at OM to take more invasive measures.

See if this adds up:
We had 4 high profile commits throughout most of the season
+ We beat the **** out of OM at their place
+ We skull-!@$* Michigan in the Gator Bowl
<span style="text-decoration:underline">+ end the season with a Top 15 ranking </span>
Lose all 4 of our high profile commits to OM in January

It makes absolutely no sense. And don't tell me that losing a couple of assistant coaches explains it all. I can see the possibility WRs looking at our roster and saying that there is a lot of young depth and then looking elsewhere (even though our offense showcases a ton of WRs). But, losing CJ Johnson when it looks like he could start as a freshman on a potentially stellar defense is absolutely ridiculous. I have no idea, but I'm sure OM has a better LB core than we do right now... so its not for playing time like it could be construed with the WRs.

It is obvious to me what is going on. And we have done it in the past, so I'm not totally bitter

I actually hope UM doesn't get caught.... because if they do, then they will spend the next X-number of years focused on getting us on probation.... and they would eventually succeed. I just hope these recruiting class swings this year do not have a solid effect on either program and then we do a better job next year after another excellent season.

possibly the fact that recruits know we won't pay while a lot of the rest of the SEC will. So yea, in that respect its hurting us especially since we still have not established ourself as a consistent winning program. But even 18 year old kids, as opposed to some of our nafoom posters here who must be in elementary school, have enough ability to logically reason to know that a school doesn't turn a recruit's solicitation in when its dirty. So I absolutely don't think we are losing any of them because they are worried we might end up with NCAA trouble. In fact there is a better chance that TSUN gets in trouble over what's going on this year than there is any blowback on us from the Cam deal. Not that I think anything will happen to anybody under the current SEC environment.

I think it is percieved amongst some recruits that MSU violated street code in snitching on the Newtons... Snitches get stitches... and apparently not 5* recruits.

I'll concede everything you said. But is it not possible that Mullen may be a ****** recruiter? It's like you said, if everyone knows AU is going to get hammered (we all know they should, but I'll believe it when it happens) why are they still getting talent? Why is "Camgate" affecting you and not them?

It can't all be Ole Miss' cheating.

They were already commited to us...If he is a ****** recruiter, how did he get the commit in the first place.

Look at CJ talking about his word being his promise.

And first and foremost, explain Morrow's comments about him being the only one not getting something.</p>

The comments made by those guys I'll leave to you, because I know nothing about them. And I won't get into my opinions of "the word" of a 17-18 year old kid (most of them, anyway).

My point is, and I tried to make this point last night as well, most of you guys are blaming anything and everything except yourselves. Ole Miss and others are probably doing some things against the rules, and maybe Mullen is wary of the NCAA hammer, but it is possible that Mullen comes off as the arrogant prick so many people have accused him of being, and that turns people off.

I don't know, and I don't care. I'd be super pissed too if I was in your position, and I'm sure I will be at some point. That doesn't mean I have to lose my objectivity.

and there have been several threads here alluding to that possibility. Is it probable though? Given the circumstances, I say no. While it might have been a contributing factor, it's not probable that it was the main factor.

Maybe only MSU fans believe your on the "rise" Your school has nothing to sell to a Non-MSU fan/recruit. 2-8 in the west over the last 2 years same as ole miss. Only state fans see this as improving.

Maybe it's this your school has sucked at football more than any team in the SEC maybe that's it. 3 years of winning will help your image around the state and country. But if you stumble as your school has done more times then not then nothing has changed. If Ole Miss could have backed up the previous two years with a good season it would have helped it's imaged nationally, but they failed miserably. Peace Out

that young men leaving home can be persuaded by different things. Quality of School, Education, etc.,etc., etc... Ole Miss is doing something / have something that seems to be working in regards to the players that have been discussed. I don't know what it is but I have an idea like many what it might be. In the past there have been several of those Cads showing up in my home town driven by Ole Miss players. I thought that had stopped but maybe someone has got a new dealership.

at the end of his tenure. It was because of all the snitching the PIs, Xenareb and her Bear buddies were doing on MSU. Why of course, it all makes sense now.

It could go like this:

1. Every school in the SEC (except those located in Nashville) cheat. Perhaps, some do so more than others, but they all do it.

2. Snitching on AU and the Newtons has produced the unintended result of the FBI, NCAA, SOS, etc. snooping around a little too close for comfort in Starkville.

3. The Bill Bells of the world are having to lay low these days, essentially shutting MSU's recruiting machine down.

4. Ole Miss has managed to take advantage of the situation as their machine is still fully operational.

5. The PLOI is still in Khayat's desk drawer.
