...if it turns out that Southern is the toughest nonconference team we play in those years and we have 7 home games both years? For instance, if the schedule is say Southern, Jackson State, Tulane, South Alabama?

That had better be the case.

And we really need to get the Starkville game in an even year since our SEC home schedule in those years pretty much sucks.

I mean, I see all of the negatives about it. I know it could hurt us if we lose to them. I know that we'll have to listen to them non-stop about it if we lose. Hurts recruiting, etc.

The thing about it is, we should beat them. It's not like we have Ohio State a few hours away pressuring us to play them every five minutes. They will be much harder than playing a jackson state or alcorn, but they are still in the cusa. Their champion plays in the Liberty bowl for christ's sake.

I have confidence that we can probably take both games, even if they think this is a much more important game than we do. We'll play them twice, beat them twice, then they will probably chill out with requests for us to start playing.

I don't like it now but if we kick them all over the field like we should then I won't mind as much. It does bother me that their stadium seats less than 40K and that game could draw up to 60-65K. We should have done a Starkville/Jackson split if they did not want to play two at Starkville.
However, like you guys said, it better damn well be our toughest non conference game.

And their champion is 0-3 against the 7th/8th place team from the SEC in that bowl.

...is that if we happen to beat them twice, we should rag their *** until there's no tomorrow. Put up billboards, and rub it in their faces every day. 17 being high and mighty. They would do the same to us. Milk it for all it's worth.

T shirts, bumper stickers, bill boards, tombstones, commericals, ads in the Clarion Ledger and every major paper in the state. Byrne needs to make damn sure every soul in Mississippi knows who won. Maybe then Rick Cleveland and all those Southern fans will shut the #@$% up.
