Is Cohen mixing up the lineups too much?

Yes. He's mixing up the lineups too much. 22 games and 22 different starting lineups. Some guys cannot get into a rhythm.

I wouldn't replace him with anyone, but he over-manages sometimes. He needs to settle on a lineup and quit bunting.

You should not bunt with a man on second with no outs unless you have a poor batter or only need one run, i.e. its late in a one run game. Hahn may be a poor enough hitter that it was right in the second to bunt Henderson.

Absolutely. If you produce, you should play. Britton earned a start in the 2nd game today. The fact that he is sitting so that Hann can get the start at DH is ridiculous. What about Garner or Humphreys? Anyone is better than Hann. Isn't he a career .150 hitter?

Preparing for tourney play

To me, Cohen tries to get the full roster ready to play. It's along season, if you have a capable seasoned team, you are better off when somebody goes down.

Plus us it helps with recruiting, if you can say, ...do your part and you will see some playing time.

Don't like everything Cohen does, but his formula works.

I'm a Cohen fan but my biggest issue

With him is that he over manages. I think you need to find a way to play your best players the most innings and put them in a position to win games for you. He complicates things too much sometimes. I still love the guy and I'm glad we have him.

One thing we have learned over the last three years (forget his first two years because he inherited such a mess) is that Cohen's teams are better at the end of the season! Even though we won our first 17 last year, he did it while mixing the line ups. And we were 11-4 in the post season last year, but were playing better baseball than when we won those first 17 games.

John prepares his teams for tournament play as well as any other coach I have seen. Why do you think we play so many 4 game series at the beginning of the year? He has a plan, and he sticks to his plan! What we all should have learned is that we should be trusting his decisions. He knows what he is doing.

Well, give me a team that hosts a regional and super regional over a team that is playing better baseball at the end of the season any time and every time. If you want to be a dominant program (and Cohen has stated he does), you have to host and you cannot rely on winning on the road to get to Omaha. The reason we hosted last year was partly bc we went 24-2 non-conference. Those games are extremely important and we have placed ourselves in a significant hole. We really needed a sweep this weekend and blew it. Ga isn't some world beater.

Really, you shouldn't but in any situation unless you have a very poor hitter at the plate. Otherwise it's just a poor percentage play.

I hate this approach to downplaying pretty good accomplishments. It's such an "MSU" thing to do.

Here's reality.
Got swept at Georgia in 2011.
Got swept at Georgia in 2009.
Took 1 at Georgia in 2007.
Took 1 at Georgia in 2005.
Took 1 at Georgia in 2003.
Took 1 at Georgia in 1999.
Swept them at Georgia in 1997.
Got Swept at Georgia in 1993.
Took 1 at Georgia in 1991.

Since 1990, we were 8-19 over there. 5-19 outside of the one sweep in 97. This is our 2nd series win there in the last 25 years. We should(rightly) celebrate the hell out of it. Regardless of how good or bad they end up being this year. That place has been kryptonite to us in modern times -- even when we are pretty good and they aren't. Series wins in that stadium are going to be hard to come by in the future too.

We're sitting ok. Not as good as we'd like, but still not time to worry. We take care of business in the SEC and get to 18-12, we're hosting.
