Thoughts ? Seminole race .
They beat Halifax and Harrionsburg, are they good? I don't think so, but they beat GW, who I thought was good. They are down this year but I was shocked at the score of that game. Next week will be a true indicator. Amherst has a really good defense so we will see. Should be a loud and raucous crowd. I know Amherst is bringing a really good crowd. I believe Amherst will win

No I don't think so that's why I was saying tomorrow's game won't tell us much about ECG, but next week is Amherst.
What do you think Mike Salem, are they as good as their record, Glass that is?

They just didn't beat GW, they gave them a beat down, of major proportion. They have to be at least better than solid. Doubt they beat Amherst, but not many teams in the state will this year. I bet it's a pretty good game.

Doubt Glass beats Amherst but it'll be a good game. This may be their year to make some noise. I thought they were on the come up and had a good team 2 years ago with Donnie Morgan at QB and they should've beat GW in '13 in Danville. They finally have the right guy in charge of their program in Woody. I see a 8-2 to 7-3 year. Sackett Wood looks to be (along with Keshun Turner) a top 3 QB in the Seminole. Very good passing numbers and he can really air it out. I don't know how far Glass will get in the playoffs, or if they'll even make it, but their chances of a big time turn around looks good.

Honesty Idk, beating GW the way they did was a big surprise to everyone, but now you have to wonder how is GW this year? If I had to guess I'd say they'll beat Fleming & Liberty, but I don't see them beating Amherst, Brookville, or Heritage this year. JF and Rustburg will probably be too close to call.

So likely 5-5, but 7-3 doesn't seem out of the question to me at this point They seem like a 4 through 6 squad in the 7 team Seminole this year. This is just my guess from here on out because I don't think anyone would have said this team would win more than 4 games at the beginning of the year.

To this point only the GW result is a surprise. Maybe that game says more about the Eagles than it does the Hilltoppers?

As you know I grew up with the Seminole and generally you don't see a team jump from near the bottom to near the top. JF went from 1-5 in the Seminole in '13 to 6-0 in '14, but that was a "Christmas miracle."

I think Coach Woody is capable, Glass has great athletes, and I think improvement could be on the horizon if the right people get behind Glass football rather than get in the way. I just don't see them going from the bottom last year to near the top this year.

I have seen Brookville and JF preseason and Amherst game 1, my Seminole guesses comes from that limited experience.

They will have to play good defense to have a chance at the Seminole. The easy answer is wait and see how they do against Amherst, but I can't see them jumping to the top after 20+ years of mediocrity at best, and the bottom at worst.

Amherst needs to focus on Rockbridge but Glass will give Amherst a game.Glass RB(Revely) was a very good RB from Amherst last year,I think he has some highlights on maxpreps from this year with Glass and last year with Amherst.

The good: Hats off to the coaching staff for removing the negative players. They did some house cleaning and improved morale/chemistry. Addition by subtraction. The 3 wins are a marked improvement from last year, and they should get at least a couple more.
The bad: Winning helps to mask problems. Losing is when a team is really tested. The Seminole schedule is brutal, if they can overcome the losses in the coming weeks they will be over 500. Amherst, Heritage, and Brookville are very strong teams.
Contenders- No. Improved-Yes

I have noticed a lot of folks on here seem to think that Brookville and Heritage are strong teams this year. Can anyone clarify what makes them strong teams? From what I've heard, Brookville returns a lot at the skill positions but nothing up front. Their three wins have come against Gretna, Albemarle, and W. Albemarle. I believe Albemarle was the best team out of those three. As far as Heritage goes, they return a lot of players from a 3 or 4 win team a year ago and they beat a weak Northside team and lost to a really good Appomattox team.

Just wondering what everyone is basing their opinion on when it comes to these two teams? By the way, this thread is not a shot at either team, just an observation.

Sorry about LCA I thought they was starting this year.I got Heritage going 6-4 or 5-5 and that's with the good coaching staff they have.People on this board keep hyping Heritage up,but I don't see it either.I haven't seen Brookville but I think they are solid atleast.I'm not quite as big on the Seminole as some people but its still a strong Conference top to bottom.I think the top teams in the Blue Ridge is better than the top teams in the Seminole except for maybe Amherst.

It is a very valid question. And I can only provide my opinion. After 3 games played it is difficult to ascertain how good a team is or is not. However, I try to gauge it by what players were lost, and what players moved up from the JV roster/transferred in. I talk to coaches and fans from the schools and attempt to decipher the fact from the fiction. Your point can be made at all levels of football. For example, how can one say that Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country when they beat Bowling Green and Tulsa? Or is Michigan that good when they beat a terrible Hawaii, and slightly better than terrible UCF.
My prediction is a thought out and researched guess. Much like any guess it is easily proven incorrect. Each team has to go out on Friday night and show what they have. To me, that is the beauty of the game. You never know what might happen under the lights, so the game keeps you coming back to see what happens next.
The real answer may come next week when the Pioneers travel to Brookville.
