All I had was Hulu to begin with and no YouTube TV, no streaming packages, no Disney, no ESPN. I went to Hulu.com and cancelled it. At that point I had nothing but an old empty Hulu account. Then, on the same page I signed up for the triple package, ESPN Unlimited Hulu and Disney, using the same log in and account that I had with the stand alone Hulu. Done, finished. I couldn't find a way to do that with my phone though. It's always easier to do on laptop to me, or maybe on my tablet. I'm going to cancel after football season anyway so a few extra bucks for this pkg didn't bother me
Sounds like you have a very different situation than me.
I have a Disney+ / Hulu / ESPN+ bundle through Verizon. It’s a premium bundle (no ads) that I do not wish to give up. The least important part of the bundle to me is ESPN+, but I’m stuck with it.
I wanted to add ESPN Unlimited as a standalone subscription for the advertised price if $29.99/mo, not bundled with anything. Already have a MyDisney account, and do not have ESPN Unlimited, so this should be straightforward to simply add the access under the same log-in.
But evidently, there’s no option to do so. I’d have to apparently do one of 3 things:
1) Cancel the current bundle I have through Verizon. Add ESPN Unlimited. Hope that I can re-add the Verizon bundle after at the same price. I’m not doing this because I see it likely just creating the same problem in reverse. If that doesn’t happen, I’d worry about a price increase from my current bill amount when I opt back in. Even if neither of those things happens, I’m not going through the hassle of dealing with Verizon, Disney, and ESPN just to add a single 17ing streaming service when I can do this seamlessly with any other service using a single button press on my TV remote.
2) Create a totally new MyDisney account - under a throwaway email account. Sign up for ESPN Unlimited under this account. In other words, have 2 different Disney accounts, and a whole different email I have to check for 2-factor authentication for the 5,000 times I have to re-login to my own damn living room TV to prove its still me. No chance in hell.
3) Cancel my ad-free Disney+ and Hulu. Swap it for version with ads and ESPN Unlimited instead of ESPN+, for cost increase of $8 per month for 12 months and way 17ing more than that starting in Month #13. Add numerous additional 4 year old and 6 year old meltdowns to my current monthly bundle there, for all the added Disney+ commercials. Lose the flexibility to cancel ESPN Unlimited individually when it totally sucks in all the ways I think its probably going to suck. Again, no chance in hell.
It’s a damn joke that it can’t be added as a standalone for the likely millions of customers that have the current Disney bundle with the largest wireless carrier in the country. It’s also a joke that they haven’t worked with said carrier to establish a new bundle with ESPN Unlimited. Its simply hard to imagine that this rollout could have been done any more poorly than it has.
