Is it possible Russell transfers?

I know of a den of Bears up north who will need a QB. Do you guys think this is possible? Even if he had to sit out a year?

edited for my poor spelling skills.

"Nope"?

Come on dude, usually an explanation is followed up by an answer like that.

If we can get a O Line to give him more than 3 seconds and a center who doesn't snap the ball at his feet then he will be fine

he's already redshirted which means if he transfers he will actually have to give up a year of eligibility. Relf is doing OK but he's certainly not setting the world on fire. If Russell can improve on his decision making ability with reading defenses and hone up his accuracy a little bit no reason to think he couldn't overtake Relf next spring. Right now our coaching staff has decided (and I think for now rightfully so) that we are more efficient as a more consevative run oriented team with Relf than we are as a pass oriented team with Russell. If we can keep improving the WR corps AND Russell can start minimizing his tendency to throw interceptions that assessment might change. Russell has all the physical tools but didn't come to us nearly as D1-ready as most of us thought he might be.

He makes some really bonehead moves. I know these can be improved with experience and coaching.

Another point once we can get some actual receivers who can catch the 17ing ball, then I am sure that can help out with QB efficiency. We are really missing Leon Berry.

they could easily just be inexperience...but it could be that he has the propensity to turn the ball over...hopefully it's just youth and inexperience

...that one last night was on Superstar Bumphis, who is probably the most overrated player we've signed in recent memory. He fell down during the route.

threw a horrible lob pick in triple coverage and Russell put up 7with a couple of nice throws, his pick was the result of 1 falling down. Bama had 5 def backs when they put Tyler in. Running it up the middle when we are down 20-3 shows me we have a coach who had alreadey conceded the game or has no confidence in Relf's ability to actually run a real offense.

Russel wont ever play as a starter. he may play a few downs here and there but he doesnt have a good pocket presence he stays there too long. Everyone hates on Relf too much and the poor guy works his butt off. He is a good qb who is big who can run and he can throw the hell outa the ball but mentally as a qb does not have all it takes. i believe he gets a mental block just like a pitcher does. Relf will start next year and progress as a qb and favre will start the year after that.

Really, he's a Freshman with a terrible receiving corp and not much playing time and you are already writing the guy off? That's rediculous.

Russell does hold onto the ball longer BUT, he seems very comfortable. From what I have seen, he is not afraid of taking a lick from a defender. He is a TRUE pocket passer. A true pocket passer isn't afraid and sits in the pocket until he finds an open receiver.

He makes poor decisions with the coverages.

there have been multiple times that Russell has moved up or sideways in the pocket to give himself time and/or throwing lanes (see the 3rd down completion last night--he moved way up to avoid the sack). no question that he needs some experience in that department, but he is definitely not a sitting duck back there.

I see more of a Tebow/Leak type of offense next year. Could be a 50/50 split or even more for TR if he keeps getting better. Relf is not the full-time answer for STATE at QB, unless he goes to the Manning Passing Academy all off-season.

We need to send Russell and Favre as well...dont want anyone getting their feelings hurt and transferring to South Alabama.
