They have a counterfeit ticket problem. In the past it was basically ignored, but since money was being made the operation has (predictably) grown, and complaints have increased.This sounds like an attempt to just keep it under control for the rest of the season, then implement actually useful prevention measures for next year.

Meh, I will enjoy not getting asked if I have tickets every 20 feet while walking around on gameday. Otherwise, not a big deal. Maybe they want them centrally located so that it is easier to identify the people selling stolen or fake tickets.
I could see it alleviating some congestion right in front of Dorman. That is a pretty high traffic area at times where a group of people stopping to talk to a scalper can be pretty 17ing annoying if you happen to be behind them. I still think it is more likely a policing issue rather than a congestion issue.

I would assume this is a problem almost everywhere? Most major sporting venues let you email tickets, and I assume they have a way to address this. Why don't they just let only the first person with a specific ticket scanned through the gate? If you've bought a used ticket from a scalper, too bad.

because this weekend was the first time in a long time that I didn't have my ticket scanned. The old lady at the gate just ripped my ticket.
I'm not questioning your info on fake tickets, but I would assume they would be more diligent on scanning them if that was an issue.

I didn't read that to say that you had to do it there. It just says

Maybe their intent is to make you go there but they left a HUGE loop hole there by not giving any more details like "you will not be allowed", "you will be arrested", "you will be removed from campus" etc etc.

This is not an unusual thing. In some states that have laws you have to be half a mile sell tickets, or they just have a designated area. I think it is a good thing.
Yes. Not at all unusual for me to accumulate extras from my family on game day. Since I get my extras free, I sell them cheap. If a dad with a kid approaches me, I almost always give them away. Unfortunately for those folks that would get in at a discount courtesy of me, I won't be walking to the Hump to do my charitable work.
I say they kick all those pos of campus. I watched one quote my buddy a price, tell him he had change, and then walk off stealing the change. I mean, what do you do? Fight the guy and go to jail before kickoff. It's a huge problem that needs to be dealt with. They are preying on MSU fans which is ridiculous
If you kick all of those "POS off of campus", those of you that walk around selling your one ticket will be "kicked off campus as well. You can't just single out a small crowd that sells tickets, yet has no intention of going in. They need to be careful, because if you punish one, you must punish all. All includes the 15 year old walking around with two tickets in the air.

*Yeah, it is a racial issue.* It has nothing to do with; standing on the busiest sidewalks leading to the busiest corners of the stadium for hours asking everyother person walking by if they have extras, while holding a hand full of tickets. Or the ten other brokers rushing in to form large huddles as one guy inquires with one broker about a ticket.
Also, unless you are standing on the busiest sidewalks around the stadium for hours with your tickets and asking for more tickets, I am sure you will be able to sell your tickets without any problem.

what i'm told is the scanners don't work.
they work off wireless, and on gameday are as useful as an AT&T iphone. They scan the tickets and upload the info later.But anyway, they haven't scanned my tix all year. They've just torn them each game.And i have had a scalped ticket be rejected by a scanner, but that was three years ago.

what your concern is. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't have a problem with them making the scalpers locate to a certain area.

Funny you say that, Rev. Jackson. Or is it Rev. Sharpton? I saw a black fella doing the traditional scalping tactics at the Depot and a white fella just standing around by himself rushes over ushering some folks to the black fella. It was as if the white guy was the black guy's look-out/ticket pimp. Nice tag-team effort. So I guess you need to rein in your color-sensitive idiocy thinking that the world is against the black man. Geez. I bet you think the scalping law is meant to target blacks so they can't make money too.
^^^THIS^^^ I am sure the FBI and the Secret Service has been notified. Once a bank was given the fake money, by federal law the Secret Service had to be notified through the local FBI. If you sell tickets, just sell them direct to bulldog fans. Probably would get more money anyway.
As I posted in another thread, multiple people were given counterfeit $ by scalpers in exchange for tickets. I imagine University PD has been made aware, talked to secret service, etc. This is probably the real reason behind this.
My Friend sold 2 tickets and received 2 COUNTERFEIT 50s....
had to go file a police report and they told him 3 other people had the same thing happen to them....same guy they thought too...

oops. didnt see this part before i posted.....but it happened to my friend at our tailgate. 2 fake 50s and 1 real 20. police said it had happened to 3-4 other people
I highly recommend the Sixpack ticket exchange and genes page ticket office. If you can buy/sell before gameday. Or sometimes even on gameday.
I don't have a big problem with what they're doing, but as far as scalping breaking the law, it's a pretty stupid law. If it wasn't illegal, they could have people registered as ticket traders/sellers. You'd have some idea of who you are dealing with so you'd have recourse if you ended up with a counterfeit ticket or money.
Exactly. I exclusively sell my extra tickets on the sixpack exchange. I know I have preached this before, but you know you are selling to a bulldog and you can use paypal.

Maybe the Bulldog Club should set up a tent in a convenient place like the Junction to serve as an authorized ticket exchange. They could buy tickets at a discount (after scanning them to confirm that they haven't already been used) and then sell them again at face value.
Another option would be for them to take tickets on consignment, scan them for validity, and provide a receipt to the original ticket holder who could pick up his/her money (or the ticket if it didn't sell) after the game or have it credited towards his account at the Bulldog Club. The Bulldog Club could charge a percentage of the sale price (not to exceed face value) and everybody would be winners.

As someone who has worked in a bank for years I can confirm this. When one of our tellers gets a counterfeit bill (and most of them are pretty ******* obvious counterfeits) we have to send the bill along with a detailed report to the SS.
