The Ford response by Sesh brought to you by Ford.

It's become one of those chinese bot posters that sell cheap jerseys, watches, and jeans. Excepts it sells cars, trucks, surgery, and boobs that have hamburgers. Buy a Ford.

It is a shame we have such a huge video board and use it to bash everyone there with commercial after commercial. It gets old quickly. Any replay we see is from the end zone view....horrible. If you ask me, it totally detracts from the game itself. If could be great....could....but it never will.

Someone mentioned putting stat leaders on there. Wow, what a genius idea that is done at every other stadium I've ever been to but for some reason we do not.

Seems like it was done when we first started using it, but I can't remember seeing anything in the last few years. Maybe I'm wrong.

They show some stats on the ribbon, but it would be cool to show stats on the jumbotron after each quarter.

We could call the damn thing the boo tube. We need the batshit crazy F'er on the fence to start booing at the top of his lungs every time they run a 17n commercial. If the whole stadium boos the **** out of the commercials, maybe loafers will get a clue.

And lately, soybean seeds. Not sure that the target audience is in the stadium though.

Actually, other than the terrible quality of most of the ads, I thought they did a pretty good job last night with limiting the ads, and also shortening some of them.

Question: there is a thing we do with the blankatron and the east side ribbon boards where they both go crazy with MState logos and such....encouraging the crowd to get loud. When that happens, it occurs on the full screen and the full ribbon. When it happened last night (twice), I couldn't find a game clock anywhere. Is there one visible somewhere?

Who paid for the video board anyway? If it was a corporate thing, given to us with the stipulation that it would run ads for revenue, then so be it. But if the University paid for it, and is only using it for revenue enhancement, then they need to raise money some other less invasive way.

I seriously doubt that the money the ads produce is anywhere near to making the inconvenience to the fans even close to justifiable. After all, everybody in the stadium has already paid a pretty penny just to go to the games. Why bombard the paying fans with anything other than football?

It's kind of analogous to speed traps at the end of the month to enhance city's revenues ... only ours is more than once a month.

Not sure, but what happens on the east ribbon happens on the west ribbon too. You just can't see them from your seat on the west side.

I wonder if the new endzone will have ribbons too? Would be a nice touch. I know they couldn't touch the existing ones but would still look sharp.

I know Learfield Sports was heavily envolved in getting the board. I'm not sure financially how it was broken out, but I'm almost certain the $6MM spent on it didn't come out of our pockets alone.... I think Learfield is mandating some of the ads run in exchange for chipping in for the bill.

Either way, I personally would have been satisfied with something much smaller if it'd mean fewer commercials. Between Columbus Orthopedic doing the damn Harlem Shake, Mercedes, or "Lewis-vuuuuuhhhhlll," it takes everything in me not to get up and walk out every time there is a stoppage of play. This literally is a poor man's version of a professional atmosphere... done about as badly as it can be done.

This is a simple fix. The sponsors need to make or MSU needs to make MSU themed commercials brought to you by so and so sponsor. Example: do a 60 second bad *** film/commercial about the baseball team and their time at Omaha brought to you by a sponsor. Do 4-5 of these a game about MSU basketball, football, baseball and women's bball. The only commercials are highlighting MSU.

It is interesting how little the buzzkillatron cost compared to the expansion ($75MM?). That board is still a marvel of modern technology to me compared to the expansion which is just some good old fashioned concrete work that could've been done 80 years ago. It makes sense, but is still interesting, nonetheless.

Went to Rocky Top last weekend. They do a nice job with video board. No commercials. No kiss cam. VERY different vibe.

They do exactly what I just described. They'll show a basketball promo, a lady Vols promo, a couple football highlight videos and usually a video with a favorite former player. All their ads are UT sports related mixed in with great music and highlights. ZERO regular commercials promoting anything not UT. Their jumbotron is not as big or nice as MSU's yet is miles ahead in video production. This is nothing new for MSU. Anything video related that MSU puts out or let's others put out is 10 years behind the curve.

Sounded like the student section was booing the mer-say-deez Benz commercial last night. That's a start.

The live look in at the STL/BOS WS Game...

Ads and commercials aside, I am all for live clips of sporting events around the country being shown on the jumbotron when used appropriately. However, prior to Kentucky's final possession, we were showing a live look in to the MLB World Series game. We are in the final minutes of an SEC football game and we are showing a MLB baseball game on our jumbotron. I thought that was pathetic. It is one thing if the live updates come during pregame or half time. But for it to come just prior to the final possession of a game tying drive is comical. It came across as: "since no one gives a damn about our game, here is a live look at a baseball game in the 6th inning." Then again, I guess its better than another Chevron Techron ad.

And yes, the video board is certainly under utilized as it relates to relaying game related information to the audience. Each replay on the board has a display ad and all dead periods of the game are sponsored Bullock Toyota. It is annoying and completely detracts from the experience. It is hard to mess up a replay board and sound system, but we have effectively managed to do so in both the Hump and DWS.

I certainly understand the importance of generating additional revenue, but it should not come at the expense of detracting from the gameday atmosphere.

It also makes no sense why simple stats aren't displayed throughout the game.

The HD Screen portions are not as "high tech" as you'd think... most of the technology upgrades over the years have been integrating the components, video equipment, and processors. If you look at the screens up close, they are just clusters of 3 LEDs close together. It's nothing more than a bunch of the flashing signs in front of businesses or the LED billboards. The structure is basic structural steel that was put together in a couple of weeks and then there was a fair amount of exterior/carpentry work done. I would venture so far as to guess upwards of 1/4 the cost was in video equipment alone.

For individual players? I know team offensive stats are there, but never noticed player stats. Who's our leading rusher, receiver, etc. I figure they show it at halftime but I'm rarely in my seat then.
