I hate dealing with rumors and gossip so I decided to just ask the Shelby faithful. I first want to state that I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I'm just checking for some facts. I've heard that a nationally highly rated running back has recently enrolled into Shelby High School and I wanted to know if anyone can confirm or deny what I've heard. I'm intentionally not saying any names cause I don't like putting kids names on a message board, especially if its just a rumor. Thanks in advance on your help with the matter Shelby faithful.

There are a lot of athletes that come out of Shelby that still have family here....Marquise Williams was one who chose to move to MC for more recognition...there is another that plays in the Va Beach area......lots of the kids on the team now are friends and family with him....Shelby is becoming a big time name even though we have the 2A stamp....
He thought about transfering last year, his cousin played for Shelby, but he decided not too..

Would a transfer really matter? The RB they have now is very good. The only questionable area on the whole team for the coming season is the replacement of the offensive line. Other than that the 2016 team is loaded.
Both tackles are back....only need to replace Center and guards...but there are several that got lots of PT last year that are ready to step in those spots. No worries...
Ocean Lakes had a coaching change, maybe that helped expedite his decision.
Laborn is a FSU lean, hopefully being back in state enough people will be in his ear to sell him on UNC because the Heels are probably looking at replacing both Hood and Logan after this season.

Ok thanks Shelby faithful for the confirmation. And please know and understand that if my asking if it's true implies any wrong doing then I vehemently apoligize!!! I have the utmost respect for the Shelby program and I definitely wasn't trying to accuse anyone of anything!! I wish the kid and your team the best of luck. You guys are truly raising the bar for NC 2A football.

Well a retake on above comments, all words around are Laborn is comming, but he is not as of yet enrolled at Shelby, so until he is ill hold off on beliving, my early reports were he was and that was from his cousin, but school sources say hes not yet....
As for Brooke same thing was thought when Camp kid came last year, and Brooke was one of MVP in Championship game.
Brooke also has 2 yrs left, if Laborn comes he will be a sr.

Heard from someone on the team that he is enrolled and already a student.
We will just have two 2000 yard rushers this year...lol. Last year we threw the ball alot, this year we'll run the ball alot. Good times!

Would it really matter if he enrolled at Shelby? From what I saw of Brooks the run game will be solid. No way I would abandon the pass game Shelby has had as of late. Trottle back Truck from looking at the bomb and let the receivers make the yards after catch like last year.
Laborn is a special talent from the videos I have seen. His field vision is the most impressive attribute. Seems to have patience behind the blockers.
