Urban is not coming back to coaching. He has zero experience with NIL or the transfer portal and I do not believe he has the personality to coach players in this era of college football. Only way this works is if Kraft hires a GM, like Stanford did with Luck, and make him responsible for all recruiting, compensation and so on.

They are down to just a few weeks on making a decision. They have had MUCH interest in the job. I have to eat my words on one thing a lower tier non power 4 candidate has moved into their top 5 and that coach is JMU's Chesney.

Chesney makes about $900K and would be a perfect fit.
Has won at about a 60% rate. Sun Belt.
Looks like Jimmy Stewart.

Yep I know that and I'm there with you but I don't think it's going to be Rhule. Maybe I will be wrong in the end, but I know where the push for Rhule is coming from. It's the same prominent homer who has been wrong on expansion every time.

Meyer is not going to be the next coach of Penn State. Like Saban, he loathes NIL and has spoken out against it as ruining the game. He has been a long-time friend of McMormick. That he was seen having lunch with him is meaningless in terms of anything having to do with the PSU opening.

If Kraft fires Franklin, pays him $50+ million (!) to leave, then wants to hire Ruhle he should be pilloried in the intersection of College and Allen.

I would hope (and pray!) that someone on the Board would step in to stop that sort of madness.

Urban Meyer? Can he coach next Saturday? Sign him up!

Think about what Chesney did after Curt Cignetti raided the JMU roster via portal transfers to Indiana: Chesney won 9 games. This year JMU has won 6 games. The guy can coach. Already has recruiting contacts in the DMV, all over Virginia and into NC. He should be given strong consideration.
