TJ: “Chao didn’t go to China for the purpose of being able to keep Mitch on life support beyond August 3. That doesn’t even make sense.”

#TeamBlue Dipshits: “bUt ItZ noT NoRMaL!!!”

TJ: “I agree that it’s not normal. I never said it is. I said that, contrary to what another poster claimed, she did not go there for the purpose of keeping Mitch on life support. Mostly because there is no reason why it would be necessary for her to do that.”

#TeamBlue dipshits: “StoP dEfeNDinG hEr!!!”

TJ: “I’m not defending her.”

#TeamBlue dipshits: “StoP dEfeNDinG hEr!!!”

TJ:

The above post is a jumble of gobbledygook. It does not make English sense, much less rhetorical sense. Try again, TJ.

My statement is 100% correct and you are flat out wrong to infer that it constitutes any sort of defense of her trip, especially after I have explained numerous times that I don’t defend it.

You would never leave your wife’s deathbed to go on a business trip to China. Neither would Tarheel or Lucas. Nor would I. That’s because we’re all 99.99 percenters. None of us are part of a Washington power couple. Much like celebrity couples, they operate by a different set of norms than regular folks like us.

Magic Johnson cheated on his wife literally thousands of times. 99.99% of wives would have ditched his *** decades ago. But he and his wife Cookie are still married to this day. Why? Because he’s Magic ******* Johnson. He’s one of the greatest athletes in American history.

With power couples and celebrity couples, business interests often take priority over personal needs. Infidelity is both more frequent and also more likely to be grudgingly tolerated.

Chao probably went to China because she wanted to attend to her family’s business interests. I don’t support her decision to do so and anyone who continues to insist that I do is simply being an ******* for the sake of being an *******.

My point from the beginning of this thread is that she didn’t do it because that was her plan to keep the doctors from disconnecting his life support and allowing Govenor Beshear to call a special election.

Anyone who thinks she did, or that it would even be necessary for her to do so, is an idiot.
Finally a post which clearly articulates your position. OK, then.

Honest question. If Mitch actually did die when he was taken away that day and they are hiding this to stop a special election from being held. If this is found out to be true, can criminal charges be brought against those responsible and if so, what changes (question for the actual attorneys here and not posters speculating)?

Probably fraud and/or treason, but it would take Congress to apply the pressure for there to be a trial, and a public more or less in agreement that the act wasn't justified.

No matter what, Trump would probably just pardon the principles and set the whole thing ablaze knowing he won't be held accountable because there are still enough loyal voters and lawmakers to legally stop him.

But, Im a rule break that is just speculating

For those of you who keep needlessly reminding me they would never leave their wife’s hospital bed - if your wife was suffering a medical emergency, would you be cool with your neighbor recording cell phone video of her being loaded into an ambulance and then selling the video to CNN for nationwide distribution?
I might not like it, but I would have to understand the logic behind it, because it has come out only in response to a continued campaign of silence and stonewalling by Ol' Turtlehead's family and staff.

Fair enough. The video was shot at the time of the incident, before his family and staff even had an opportunity to begin stonewalling. So let’s take the media distribution component out of the equation and focus on just the recording.

What would you think if your spouse was being loaded into an ambulance in the throes of a life-or-death medical emergency and you looked over and saw your neighbor shooting cell phone video?

OK, no insult intended, but I'm seriously trying to make sense of this ^^^^ post. What point are you trying to make in your first sentence? As for her location, the prior posts in these McConnell threads suggest that, under Kentucky law, she would need to sign off on a directive to withdraw life support, and if she is in China and making herself unavailable, that cannot happen. Right?
The hypothesis I’m disputing is that she fled to China specifically so that no one would be available to authorize the doctors to take him off life support.

My contention is that geography doesn’t enter into it. If she doesn’t want him removed from life support then she can refuse to sign the directive while she’s sitting in a chair next to his hospital bed. There was no need for her to leave the country to accomplish that objective. So it makes no sense to say she left the country in order to accomplish that objective.

I wouldn't like it. No doubt about it.

I understand that, but it seems to me (and most other people as well, I believe) that she shouldn't have left his side, much less the country, in the first place.

I’m guessing no. Because you’re in the 99.99%. That’s not normal protocol for normal people. But apparently it’s perfectly fine since it’s Mitch McConnell. People like McConnell and Chao live in a very different reality from what we experience.

You sure are defensive for supposedly not taking the position we all saw you take. Probably best to just concede and move along. You're not helping yourself.

And exactly what position did you all “see me take”?

You're not going to TJ me. Sorry.

Your comments made it seem like it wasn't that big of a deal she left her dying husband to go "handle some family business" in China. Not like she was just across town.

Multiple people in this thread, also read into your comments that way. As Jerome said, why does this keep happening all the time? Have a good one!!

Lol. You chose to engage in this discussion. Don’t act like it’s something that happened to you.
Your comments made it seem like it wasn't that big of a deal she left her dying husband to go "handle some family business" in China. Not like she was just across town.
“Made it seem.” So even though I made it crystal clear numerous times that I don’t support or condone her actions, you went ahead and decided that I support her actions. That’s the core problem with this board in a nutshell.

“Not all marriages are created equal” is not expression of support for her actions. It’s a statement of fact. Multiple people declared they would never leave their spouse’s bedside and wondered why she would so such a thing. So I explained why. None of us are part of a Washington power couple. None of our spouses are a prominent senator. Elaine’s husband is. None of us have multimillion dollar business and philanthropic endeavors in China. Elaine and her family do. She lives in a different world than we do.

I don’t support what she did. At no time have I ever said I support her going to China. I simply explained to you why she did it. Because it sure as hell wasn’t for the purpose of blocking the doctors from removing Mitch’s life support. She can easily do that without boarding an airplane.

Multiple people in this thread, also read into your comments that way. As Jerome said, why does this keep happening all the time? Have a good one!!
To Jerome’s point, it’s not “weird” at all that it keeps happening. It’s actually quite predictable. Expected, really. It keeps happening because no one on this board is interested in having a grownup discussion about anything.

By that I mean actually reading the words that another poster writes. Interpreting those words the way they were intended to be interpreted. Paying attention and acknowledging when someone repeatedly clarifies any misconceptions about their point. And then responding accordingly and intelligently.

The only lib poster I can think of who actually does those things is @What Would Jesus Do? . There are probably a couple others that I’m forgetting, but none of them are participating in this thread.

Nobody wants to do that because it’s boring. It’s more fun to make fart noises and shoot spitwads to make the rest of the class laugh.

That’s why guys like Lucas like to accuse me of changing the subject when I respond directly to something that someone else already posted.

It’s why Torbee accused me of “both sidesing” in a post that’s not even in the same realm as a “both sides” argument. It’s why he spent two hours repeatedly accusing me of constantly doing the “both sides dance” but couldn’t spend 30 seconds coming up with a single example to back up his accusation. He can’t because there are no examples and he knows there are no examples. But he continues to make the accusation anyway because he also knows he can rely on 10 or 15 of his buddies to join in and regurgitate hackneyed phrases like “TJ gonna TJ”.

Those guys made a choice to be a dick. It’s not even a little bit surprising because they do it all they time.

It’s why 8 pages into this thread, even after I have repeatedly stated that I don’t support Elaine’s actions, there are posters still accusing me of supporting Elaine’s actions. I could declare 20 more times that I don’t support her and the same dumbasses will still be accusing of supporting her. Because they’re choosing to be a dick.

That’s just the way this board operates. And it’s sure as hell not my fault.

He posted a photo. Apparently he lives.

Claims he fell, knocked unconscious and developed pneumonia.

Intends to finish his term.

I'm inclined to believe this photo, but it would not shock me if it was a fake, either. It would have been better if he had held up a copy of today's newspaper, but if he has survived and his wife is with him, then good for him, I guess. You just have to wonder what his state of mental cognition is, and why he just doesn't resign NOW. He has already announced that he's no longer running.

What would be really great is if he held up a sign that said "Eat shiat, Laura Loomer."
