He's by far our best offensive player and maybe best overall. Doesn't seem like he's a pro prospect.

If Kirk gave him 30+ carries instead of 20 — this game would have been closer

It would be wise to leave
NFL doesn't care about RB "experience" compared to total hits.
Rice was dinged for having so many college carries
Mongo put in three years and got better each year.
In his third year he led B1G in yards and had 7 TDs.
OSU, MSU, PSU, UI - hell of a conference to gain 1k and lead rushing
Have to strike while the iron is hot.
If he went backwards next year he becomes seen as a one hit wonder.
He'll get a combine invite this year for sure

I hope he comes back. But I think he's gonna take advantage of his 2023 resume and the fact that he's reasonably healthy and try his hand in the NFL.
And I think he'll do fine there.
After Pacheco - who didn't lead the conference in rushing - he should absolutely take shot at nfl

If he leaves and we are stuck with Wimsatt starting at QB next year we are royally screwed.
4 wins might be the ceiling in ‘24.

I don’t think he’s an NFL back, and certainly not draftable. VG college player. Why wouldn’t he want to come back and be the featured player again ?

If he’s smart he’s gone, shelf life for RB isn’t that long. Don’t waste your body in college. Get paid young man! Thanks for your time here!
Not that I disagree with your opinion, but he could (should) get paid in college. Definitely deserves it more than Gavin.

But Kyle has much better vision than Pacheco had coming out of college. Pacheco has improved a ton with KC, but he was very much a straight line runner before. Kyle sees the field much better. Scouts will love him.
I agree and I think Monangai is the best RB we've had here since Ray Rice. I just think NFL scouts are more caught up in the measurables and I don't think Monangai does as well as Pacheco in that regard

Pacheco has him beat in measurable. He physically looks and runs like a franchise back. Kyle is the better player at this point in their careers.

Love KM, but I don’t know what his pro prospects are. Doesn’t seem like he has the speed that Pacheco has. I’d like to think RU can put together a package that can entice him to stay another year.

RU needs him desperately. Really not sure what staying another year though does for his NFL prospects.

he likely won’t have much of a choice. It’s such a devalued position. Pacheco a better pro prospect and even then landed in a perfect place (Andy Reid and a star QB).

Think he has had either 4 or 5 100 yard+ games this year. Most of the time running backs will credit their OL. Kyle makes the most of what is given him. His YAC yards are insane.

He will be at least 3rd round draft pick, if he runs 4.40-4.50 at the combine...

He runs hard, moves piles, and has vision. Put him behind a good OL and he'll succeed. Much like Pacheco. The NFL is full of guys like this.

KM is much better runner than Pacheco. Better Vision, much better acceleration, tougher to bring down, Pacheco ran 4.37 out of nowhere to surprise people. It still landed him 7th round. That goes to show what teams thought of his running...

KM will 100% be drafted and even get his chances in NFL... dude can flat out run

He's not in any experts' draft boards. 🤷 RBs are also a dime a dozen these days. I bet hes a priority free agent if he declares. 10 years ago he's probably drafted.

It's a business decision and he's gotta do the right thing for his future. There is no better chance for him to than after a 1000 yard season and leading the Big Ten in rushing. Wish the kid the best and hope he locks in that life changing money.

They are (the YAC yards).
He never gets trucked or stuffed
He's like Rice that way.
Ozzie Newsome said he drafted Rice because he saw in films that he came out the other end of every pile he ran into.

Not even Pacheco was like that and I saw him get stuffed a lot vs the B1G boss teams.
Pacheco is also a testament to what a good passing game does for the run.
Most opposing defenses are in terror of Mahomes and Kelce.
The defenses are scattered/loose and Pacheco runs into open field like he has hot coals in his pants and he sees a bucket of ice water

I still have confidence in Sam Brown. He won’t lead the league in rushing but he’ll be more than adequate at the job

If we get the Sam Brown from last year combined with Benjamin I think that's a pretty good 1-2 punch. Getting Monangai back would obviously be the best situation.

Monangai made us forget how much we were looking forward to the return of Brown.

Let's review:

Monangai first year.. very good.. a "what have we got here" good.

-----

Monangai 2nd years.. not as good. He was outshined by...

Brown first year (in Monagai's 2nd).. very very good... we got a good one here... then.. injury

-----

This year.. Monangai 3rd... FANTASTIC.. couldn't ask for more

Brown's 2nd year.. kinda reminds me of Monangai's second year.. BUT.. the injury... it may just ake another year before his body forgets the injury and trusts its wheels to do things like Monangai has done this year. (I kinda wonder if Mag over on the BBALL side will see a similar.. uh.. limitation in his game after his injury.. but I have no doubt he will eventually get over it.. oddly.. if he wasn't an athletic phreak he never would have even attempted the move that hurt him... so reckless with his body.. I don't know any body that could do what he told it to do).

I very much look forward to Browns 3rd year next year... with or without Monangai. If KM goes pro.. he probably will do so before the bowl game. That's my guess.

Sam Brown really struggled this year. Did seem to have the toughness after the 1st hit and went down easily. Remember he being much tougher to tackle last year. Schiano said he was not physically ready for the hits early this season..maybe it carried over for the whole season. Hope he regains his form next year.

Foot injuries make it very hard to train your lower body. Things like squats, lunges, or any type of plyometric exercises become difficult. My thoughts it Sam was never able to fully complete the off season strength and conditioning program. Next year a fully rehabilitated and improved Sam Brown may be the stud we all thought he'd be.

Does anyone know what position Gabe Winowich, the kid playing with Surace now, is projected to play?
