Is Rhule at Baylor fishy or for real?

When he took the job on December 9th they had one recruit. Now, with a head coach with zero ties to Texas and a school facing all kinds of probation issues, they have 25 recruits and the 30th ranked class in the nation. This at a school that has a very short tradition of being really good.

Sounds fishy.

To quote the late great Eddie Guerrero...

Everything with Baylor athletics is fishy. I think the main role for the coach is to define which players he or she wants, then it's up to oil money boosters to land them.

A private baptist school in a town with a population of 130,000 has the best women's basketball players, football players, men's basketball players and baseball players.

Something has smelled wrong about Baylor for years.

But you guys ignoring the fact that Briles was a high school Texas football coach Deity. Then he maintained a high profile at Houston before taking the job. In a quick perusal of Baylor rankings during the Briles days, Baylor never had a class ranked this high. During Briles' tenure they averaged #45.

How is a team facing probation having their best recruiting class ever? The Dr. Pepper and Getterman money didn't just show up.

I'm all for it as long as it doesn't affect us. Texas fans must be so pissed Baylor is a big player now. That's good enough for me.

I know it is a transition year, but Texas has only 17 recruits right now and is rated 31st by Rivals. Not up to their standards. Hermann may be new, but he had deep ties to Houston recruiting and good ties to the rest of Texas. He also came in with a lot of positive press and a reputation for being a player's coach. Maybe they are only at 17 by design if they over signed in the past.

Texas signed big classes the past 2 years. This one should be smaller. And like us they're waiting for signing day decisions

They have 2 4 stars, one of them was about 85 miles from campus, the other from New Jersey had Temple in the lead before Rhule left, then basically followed him.

Then they filled with a bunch of local kids and a few under the radar guys they had been recruiting to Temple

here we go again. Everyone in America cheat except Nebraska.

You guys sound like little whiny asses.
Not at all what I am saying. But I do highly suspect Baylor cheats. I think Ole Miss is also a very likely cheater. You can look at trajectory of teams who have been bottom feeders historically and then very quickly rise up - not a gradual climb and not a freak of getting lucky with a player or two and they stay in the upper echelon after a history of below average performance. Baylor and Ole Miss both make me raise my eyebrows.

First of all you underestimate how many Baptists there are in the south and how many recruits are Baptist. Second of all you underestimate the quality of a Baylor's academic reputation. IF you're talking sales, they have a HUGE natural market to work.

baylor did the same thing nebraska did to get recruits. they hired assistant coaches with ties to players. coaches who had players who would follow them to their next job. if u can't beat them hire them.
