Is Shapen still with the team?...

I was talking about last year. He won 5 this year. How many did KT win? Looks like an L against the Bears to me. I’m sure all you fanboys will say he would have won 9 if given the reins.

Nah I don’t think he would have won 9. Im on record several times as saying I don’t think our record would be any different at all if Taylor had played more. And it’s likely we lose Arizona state if Taylor starts that game. All I’ve done is say Taylor should have started after the Texas game.

Some of you guys act like Shapen was great…. He was barely good most of the time. This is a guy who had a career record of 16-22 as a starting QB. He’s nothing special. And Taylor may end up being no better. But I’d bet on it right now. I’d bet on Taylor having more wins, yards and TDs than Shapen has had during his career.

The rumor seems to be that he won't be there for the bowl game but have not heard anything definite.

Another question, would you blame him for leaving?

If he thinks he has a shot at playing at the next level, wherever that may be, I do not blame him. The current college football landscape is all about NIL contracts and these players are pretty much professional athletes now. We have to understand that, even if we want to believe it's still about loyalty. At the end of the day, I doubt he would play in the bowl game anyway barring an injury with KT. KT is our guy moving forward and he needs all the reps he can get before next season.

Shapen was a serviceable pocket passer with below average legs who was installed with a poor offensive line to protect him. He was also prone to mistakes at some of the worst possible times. Lebby knew this but still allowed him to use the scramble option way way too many times. He was also incredibly accurate at a consistent level and kept us in most games where we had no business being in.

We never knew how good we had it with guys like Fitz. That guy was never given the respect he deserved following Dak. Fitz would have been 9-3 this season I really do believe that.
