Diaz's apparent swiss cheese defense in the Big 12?

Seems the up tempo spread offenses eat the scheme up.

Did Diaz forget how to coach all of a sudden? His MTSU and MSU defenses were know for in game adjustments.

Was it all KJ, White and McPhee?

Is that scheme now obsolete against those offenses?

I'm not an x and o guy so I'm hoping one you can enlighten me.

Let me add, thank god we don't play Oregon.

it is puzzling, but jimmys and joes always outshine xs and os.....

....so, yes, i'd say those NFL caliber players made a big difference.

If you came to be enlightened on x's and o's by this board you might as well move on along. Nothing to see here.

No correlation...Also drastically different styles of defense, regardless of how much they "told" us that we would be seeing more of the same. Diaz actually did pretty well against the hurry up spread in his time in Starkville, if you remember how we fared against Cam and Urban...

We've just gone from a smashmouth, attacking team to a finesse team, and it plays against our identity as a whole...

This is the first year of Mullen's tenure without a DL that demands a double tea

m He's always had McPhee or Cox. It completely changes your defense when the other team has to commit two people to one DL.

Not sure if that's what Diaz is running into in Texas. Seems like they would have a defensive lineman of that caliber.

Hopefully Quay will be that type player for us soon.

Not sure that explains completely Wilson's struggles (I don't think it explains missed tackles), but it does explain why we could be decent on D last year and seemingly terrible this year.
