Is there anyone left that disagrees with me on the fact we dont run an offense?

Pike has never run a legitimate college offense his entire career even going back to SB. Been saying it for years only to get chastised for it. Not sure how anyone can deny it any more.

And tbh, it wasnt me even really saying it. Good friends with a guy high up on the aau circuit in NJ and pike told him the way he likes to generate offense is to get out and run and turn defense into offense.

I just cannot fathom that we effectively dont spend much time on implementing a half court offense. Its 2023, offense has never been more important.

We need to hire an assistant this offseason who knows how to run an offense.

A lot of pathetic homers on here. One of biggest, some guy who dresses up and calls himself Scangg, said we could lose this game and next and still dancing lol. Incredibly sad.

Yeah you're still wrong on this. He can't make the shots for our players. It basically comes down to that.

He doesn’t run an offense but it can still work with the right talent. If you have a guard who can create his own shot and some shooters, it’s all you need.

Issue this year is total lack of offensive talent. Name one guy on this team that is truly talented offensively? Can’t even say Cam given his physical limitations.

it’s becoming more evident without anyone to create a shot for themselves or others. we run a few simple actions that flow into pick and roll but we are extremely easy to prepare for and easy to scout . Don’t let cliff roll for a lob; and. don’t fly out at shooters other than cam . We get very limited off the ball movement and once our initial action is stopped, we hold the ball and just go pick and roll. A lot of this is not running repeated offense or actions and a lot of it is personnel which is pikes fault. Not having shooters, or creators hurts. Also not having a big who can handle and pass hurts. A lot of teams use their bigs to be a passer and initiate dribble handoffs at the top of the key and run action off the ball with the big being a passer. We can’t do that with cliff because he can’t so that. So again; it’s a combo of bad offensive coaching and bad recruiting

Whether it's because of poor recruiting resulting in little talent or an inability to put together a coherent offense, what is clear is that Pike is really a mediocre coach when all is said or done.

Agree with you. Simpson is the only guy with that potential but he’s not there yet. Cam really has to be set up and since we don’t run sets, we kind of waste him. Hate to say it but Cam could have done much better elsewhere where he could come off screens and pop.

The main problem is that this team is void of talent. If Paul and Caleb are on the floor we are playing 3 on 5, if bad Hyatt is also on the floor its now 2 on 5, if Cliff is also on the floor and isnt dunking the ball, its now Spencer on 5.

We super obviously run offense, which is evident when anyone is actually playing well, but our players lack the skill to run anything against a decent defense and this is especially true when they aren’t playing well.

There is not a single coach on planet Earth that is taking this team tonight and getting more than a few more points out of them.

Pike won the league with the best offense in the conference at Stony Brook. Pike said it. I never fact checked but I'll take his word for it

His last year at Stony Brook he had the 2nd best offense and the best defense in that league.

Coaches recruit their players if I'm not mistaken, so if the players are no good that's on the coach's recruiting.

Hi Mr. Santa Fe Magazine Guy,

Not sure if you read the thread, but it’s about whether we run offensive sets or not. The thread for “businessmen” with websites that haven’t been updated since 1998 is elsewhere.

Also that Stony Brook team was ranked higher for adjusted offensive efficiency than our current team lol

There’s plenty to critique, but this isn’t it. The more appropriate criticism is why do we fall to pieces without Mag? Why is Paul all of a sudden a complete no show? Why can’t Pike find anything that works? Why do we not have the talent needed? Why do we just not have the skill needed? All fair criticisms.

But OP needs to show up (after being gone most of the year btw) posting this ridiculous criticism because he WANTS to be right, even though there are 100 other things to criticize first.

Because you’re a troll and I personally dislike you.

And also your post wasn’t even a response to mine. No **** he recruited them. He seems to have recruited some better ones going forward. What am I supposed to be screaming about? The thing we’ve all been clamoring for (recruiting better players) is happening!

Hyatt is clueless. He’ll hit some shots from time to time but he’s a 4 star who didn’t last at LSU and he was a better player there in his first year than he is today.

When Mag went down we needed Paul to pick up the slack offensively. He got exposed.

I can vouch that you have indeed been saying this for the last 2 or 3 years - but what I really want to know is..

Have you changed your Twitter handle from Pikestan or whatever it was when you jumped on the bandwagon 😀
