This guy got exactly what he wanted. All of the Ole Miss fans slobbering over his article, and all of the other SEC fans linking it to message boards where thousands click the link and give him incredible viewership. We are the reason articles like this are written...not because the guy truly believes it. Not saying he doesn't, but that's not why he writes them.

Well, I wish someone would write that article about MSU. Would have the same effect, but those articles never get written. If they do, they include "Mullen will likely leave." in the first paragraph

Yeah he's smoking it all right.....

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/2013/ole-miss-2013-sec-west-contender/

Ole Miss did have a great recruiting class, but they are freshmen, and the schools at the top of the SEC West had equal or better classes. Ole Miss could be pretty good in a few year, but what is this guy smoking?

He describes the 7 win bears in 2012 as "nearly a 10 win team" because they lost a few close games.

Also check out this nugget of joy. "Outside of a trip to Tuscaloosa, no other road divisional games should worry the Rebels. If so, tell me which ones. Vanderbilt, Auburn or Mississippi State?" Answer: How about all three? This knucklehead just mentioned that the bears lost to Vandy AT HOME last year. He also fails to recall that the bears lost the last three in a row to MSU. Not saying we will run away with the game but to say a trip to MSU or Auburn should worry the bears is being laughably homerish.

This is true. But I think Ole Miss as a fan base and from a marketing standpoint, makes sure a lot of this stuff happens. Plus, if there are any MSU writers out there, they always seem to try to be more objective and professional about their columns. Kind of like the difference between Jim Ellis and David Kellum. Kellum gets all of the broadcaster awards and ****, while Ellis is by far the better commentator and more professional in the way he broadcasts. He is nowhere near the homeristic, whiny, tool that Kellum is. MSU just does a poor job of pushing ourselves out in the spotlight because as a whole we are not attention loving whores.

Not saying it doesn't help Ole Miss...it does. And I wish we would try to push ourselves out there a little more. But if only seeing Ole Miss articles like this, means that we aren't pompous douches as a fan base and a University overall....I can live with that. Maybe that's just me though.

"OM went toe to toe with Bama" is the biggest farce of last season...

After OM scored a TD early in the 2nd quarter, OM crossed Bama's 40 yard line once the rest of the game. It was 27-7 Bama in the middle of the 2nd quarter. The game was never in doubt after that.

To think that OM was close to Bama last season and therefore can beat them this season is just ignorant. I mean, they do have some chance, but not a very good one.

Outside of MSU name me a team Ole Miss beat that ended the season with...

a winning record?

Did Pitt end with a winning record, not sure? Had Arkansas and Auburn been at the same level they were in 2010/2011 then we would not be talking about Ole Miss at all. Let them set themselves up for a letdown next year.

And yes State losing to Ole Miss last year was inexcusable, and is by far Mullen's biggest lost. I truly feel losing the Egg Bowl was the impetus to make the changes to teh coaching staff.

They must spend more money on marketing than they do on their recruits. You think that article was "out there" read this. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-by-game-schedule-predictions-for-2013/page/5

Holy **** that was funny thanks for the laugh. I find it hilarious that article had Ole Miss beating Bama, Lsu and Auburn but losing to Mizzou? I think Auburn is going to be night and day from last year to this year. I think Malzahn is bat **** crazy but he is a good coach.

Don't see that happening, nor MSU for that matter.

Bama, ATM, LSU will be solid on those top 3 spots. Everyone else is on the outside looking in. Sure LSU lost a lot of talent on D but they always have a stocked pantry full of 4-5 star Louisianna boys.

Enjoy the surprise year you had, it won't get any easier from there (signed MSU Football 2010).

The good news about this garbage, is that only thing that derails a program's momentum faster than over inflated expectations is Ron Cooper. It may be really good for us that some Rebel fans may expect them to win 10 games next year, and will be disappointed when they win 7 or 8. That will stop their momentum faster than anything.

I think LSU will have a similar season to their 2008 year. We would've beaten them last year had our ST not just choked (gave up a PR for TD, muffed and lost 2 punts) and they lost just about everybody, whereas we return just about everybody.

We will have to catch some breaks on the health front and hope that Wallace's arm returns to it's pre-injury form but crazier things have certainly happened. I think Auburn will be a dangerous team next year though, and MSU should be improved.

The idea has always been pretty much to marginalize State and over hype OM...makes no difference about the facts..just the way it is. Deal with it.

We almost beat LSU in 2009... didn't help in 2010

LSU had lost to Bama by the time y'all played last season. They had very little to play for and y'all lay everything on the line at LSU. I'm not putting any money on Ole Miss to beat LSU this year.

That Bleacher Report article is about as homer as they come. OM beat Bama in Tuscaloosa? An arm amputee can count the number of times OM has beaten Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He says, "Ole Miss beats Alabama in Tuscaloosa for the first time since 1988." Hell, how about "Ole Miss will get their second victory ever in Tuscaloosa." 17, I can count the total number of wins OM has against Alabama on both hands.

The only reason the Bears did as well as they did was that, at that point in the season, Alabama wasn't taking them seriously so the players didn't play hard. Halftime changed that. And the reason the obliterated us was because they felt we were getting too big for our britches and needed to teach us a lesson. And they did.

I don't see Bama being trapped by an over-hyped OM. LSU--not so sure about that. What the 17 happened that a huge chunk of the defense graduated early? Most of those guys aren't going in early rounds, and some will be lucky to get drafted on day 1. Something is wrong in tiger town, and they are playing way below their talent level. The Clemson meltdown was epic. I think their QB sucks, and their offense in general sputtered all year finishing #56 in the country. Will them having to basically re-tool their D, I can't predict how they are going to do. Both MSU and OM may beat them next year. Auburn and maybe Arkansas should be vastly improved, though Arky's recruiting class sucked.
