I have no idea if the numbers are correct and I'm not arguing for or against but I remember Newsome saying something like it would be cheaper than the cost to hospitals that will go unpaid when they show up to emergency rooms because they don't have insurance.

I'm not quite following... so i'm not arguing. CA is paying for insurance for illegals?

That's what the OP is alleging and I feel like I remember it being true based on the comments I mentioned above.

Found an article about it

"Immigration and health care advocates, who spent more than a decade fighting for the changes, have said the expanded coverage will close a gap in health care access and save the state money in the long run. Those who live in the state illegally often delay or avoid care because they aren’t eligible for most coverage, making it more expensive to treat them when they end up in emergency rooms.

“It’s a win-win, because it allows us to provide comprehensive care and we believe this will help keep our communities healthier,” said Dr. Efrain Talamantes, chief operating officer at AltaMed in Los Angeles, the largest federally qualified health center in California."

Outstanding article and terrific explanation on how this works. Brilliant to give them free healthcare proactively for everything. God knows those ER trips add up. You guys will defend anything. This state is upside down. Businesses leaving every week, crime through the roof, completely mismanaged, yet the left is concerned with “expanded” healthcare for illegals (apparently the normal healthcare they get wasn’t good enough), and making sure they can vote.

So his argument is they don’t pay their hospital bills so the taxpayers in the state should subsidize their entire healthcare bill? That’s genius level stuff.

How bout pay your bill or we deport your ***.

Oh the horror of taking care of people. Good thing we have people like yourself who don't want any type of healthcare paid for by the government.

I don’t like the horror of Americans who can hardly pay their bills being denied adequate health care because they either lack insurance or sufficient funds to pay for money over what is covered

SEND ALL THE ILLEGALS BACK AND HAVE THEIR COUNTRY PAY THEIR BILLS AND LETS HAVE AMERICANS TAKEN CARE OF BETTER

Hold up on the diatribe dude because I made it clear that I wasn't advocating for it, I was just answering your question. And lol at "making sure they can vote" because that's definitely not something I or anyone I know supports, but for the record, it wouldn't ensure a Democrat vote anyway as almost 50% of male Latinos voted for Trump last year.

Don't they end up paying for it anyway one way or another?

Yes, which makes it worse. Btw wasn’t that also a big talking point for you guys. These illegals pay taxes right? So I guess they’re entitled to it. They’re working and paying taxes but not paying for their healthcare. Right. You know how that would work? The government would take that money owed directly from their paycheck they were paying taxes on. Surprise, it ain’t happening because they don’t pay taxes.

Yes, whether taxes or inflated health insurance premiums or inflated healthcare costs, we bear the cost of illegals.

The only logical solution is to require ID and immediately contact ICE to deport illegals. We will be kind and provide the minimum necessary care, but they will be deported directly from discharge.

dpic73, you may be correct on what you say Newsome said about being cheaper than letting hospitals go unpaid. It would have been better, however, if Biden, Newsome, etc. had done their job and not allowed the illegals into the country initially!!

If they are shipped back to where they came from there wouldn't be any expense, even better, don't let illegals into the country initially.

100% Agree with this

Treat and stabilize patient and then because the patient is a criminal

Have ICE pick them up and deport them

That’s NOT being unkind

That is treating the law as supreme and protecting American citizens

It is not Americans fault that people left their country and came to America without support

Americans should not support parasitic behavior

FTR, there are many states besides California, including red state Utah, who also cover immigrants regardless of status:

" In January, Republican-controlled Utah will start covering children regardless of immigration status, while New York and California will widen eligibility to cover more adults.

"These are kids, and we have a heart," said Utah state Rep. Jim Dunnigan, a Republican who initially opposed his state's plan to cover children lacking legal status but relented after compromises including a cap on enrollment."

Again, I'm not arguing for or against but these states have determined there is a cost benefit analysis to covering them for several reasons:

"The pandemic highlighted the importance of insurance coverage to control the spread of infectious diseases; and some states are focusing on people without legal status to further drive down the country's record-low uninsured rate.

States have also expanded coverage in response to pleas from hospitals, lawmakers say, to reduce the financial burden of treating uninsured patients.

All states pay hospitals to provide emergency services to some unauthorized residents in emergency rooms, a program known as Emergency Medicaid. About a dozen states have extended coverage for only prenatal care for such people. Full state-provided health insurance coverage is much less common, but increasing."

"There is a growing acknowledgement that people regardless of their immigration status are part of the community and should have access to health care in a regular, reliable manner," Fox said. "If they don't, it adds costs and trauma to the health systems and communities."

If the way the right feels about immigrants is what gets us universal healthcare, I will certainly consider it a silver lining.

People care cost taxpayers one way or another. Whether we are paying for increased border patrols, military mobilization, wall building, detention camps, flights "home" or bandaging knees, birthing babies, providing childcare, and educating minors, it all costs money. People are expensive. Living is expensive and if left to insurers and undertakers dying is expensive, too. Outrage can be fun until you realize the alternative is not much better, then it becomes exhausting.

Says the guy who has no idea how bad the health care is in Canada and Europe. Their wealthy flock here by the thousands and pay cash instead of “free” health care at home. Utterly clueless. Whenever a new doctors office opens up in Canada people get up before dawn and stand in literally a mile long line all day to try to sign up. People wait literally years and years for elective surgeries. It’s not uncommon for people to die before they get their surgeries. The elderly are routinely denied major health care procedures and expensive medicines as they are expendable and the care is so rationed they have to exclude a huge percentage of health care requests. You live in a fantasy world. I’ve spoken to so many transplants who hated the socialist health care systems they came from.

There are quite a few who just cannot be reasoned with. They are unable to learn from history unless they actually lived through it themselves.

Some more 5D chess from newscast.

Gavin Newsom's California is planning to implement a new "Grading for Equity" program at @SFUnified schools. This program will:

-Eliminate homework
-Eliminate weekly tests
-Allow for late assignment hand-ins
-Allow students to skip class without affecting grade
-Make getting an "80" an "A"
-Allow students to pass with as grade as low as "21"

RIP education in California.

This has been posted today but it wasn’t gotten the attention it needs and gone viral

California Attorney General Rob Bonta speaks at a CA Democrat Convention in Anaheim. A huge popular area

Look at the crowd. IT IS EMPTY

THIS is why Democrats made checking ID illegal when voting. This place should be packed, but there is no one.

Democrats made checking ID illegal when voting because they’re lost their voter base in California and they’re rigging elections

It's actually very short-sighted. You might have voters for a decade or two. Once their toil pays off and they begin to build wealth, most will not so willingly give it away.
They don’t care about longevity, they care about power right this second. That was the way to get power immediately. That and attempting to imprison the one political rival they have. The funniest part is watching liberals defend it. They tried to make him a felon for power. They tried to import the third world for nothing but power too. They do not care about these people period. If they did they would want to make the world and those countries better, not bring the defunct culture here.

And this could’ve been done through economic sanctions. You wanna do business with the largest economy in the world? Get your **** together or find a new country to support you. Most of these places fall in line pretty quick. But libbys prefer to just write blank checks with no receipts and wonder why it’s not working. That was USAID precisely.

Disagree. The “funniest” is when they vomit the words “threat to our democracy” everywhere … when
1) we aren’t a democracy
2) the Democrats havent had a fair and true Presidential primary since 2012. They got the candidate that the party elites wanted them to vote for.

FAFO.

JUST IN: The Trump administration is planning to cancel a HUGE amount of federal funding to California that could begin as soon as Friday, according to CNN.

“Agencies are being told to start identifying grants the administration can withhold from California. On Capitol Hill, at least one committee was told recently by a whistleblower that all research grants to the state were going to be cancelled, according to one of the sources familiar with the matter,” CNN wrote.

In May, Trump threatened to withhold federal funding to California if they continue to allow men to compete in women’s sports.
