I would feel much better with 1 more impact player. But as it stands now I think we are definitely in the picture.

We will have 5 impact players and two very solid role players.

Tclarke
BBoston
IJackson
OSarr
KBrooks (Hopefully a big sophomore jump, we saw him at Florida and he was balling out)
Role Players
Lance Ware
Cam'ron Fletcher (For some reason I am really excited about this get, very raw offensively but this dude can jump a foot above the rim. Real explosive athlete that I don't think we have seen in a while. Plus his shot mechanics are really good)

Question Marks
DMintz
DAskew (I have faith he will run this team really well, shooters shoot)
DAllen ( Might still be getting used to the college game)

These dudes are going to be phenomenal. Sarr with the offensive prowess of Richards and Jackson is going to swat everyone that goes up too soft at the rim. Throw in the two best available wing players in the class (Not named Cade) and we have a actual legit shot to win it. Even if we run the gauntlet in the tournament, I don't see many teams standing with us other than Villanova.

Each year we have the belief that this team whatever year is going to be unbeatable. Then early on, disaster and during SEC season losses to the most unexpected teams. However, if there are no injuries and Saar gets to play it is hard to imagine this team losing predictabily to anyone. Saar is a proven player, Brooks looked really good at the end of last season, we still have Allen who at least got to practice and knows the plays, we have two top 10 recruits, a proven experienced additional transfer, several very talented freshman who don't have to be instant impact but will nevertheless likely be good, and a deep bench.

I think we will be in the hunt, if Sarr can play.

Offensively, we should have four double digit scorers in Clarke, Boston, Sarr, and Brooks.

Mintz and Askew will be in that 5-10ppg range as well.

Add Williams for another 5-10ppg scorer.

Mintz, Askew, Boston, Williams, and Allen should give us enough shooting to keep defenses honest against us.

Defensively, we have so much length, teams will have trouble scoring against us. Sarr is a beast on the defensive boards. Mintz is a really good and experienced on-ball defender. Boston, Clarke, Brooks, and (hopefully) Williams are so long on those wings.

It will take time to gel, no doubt. We probably drop some games we are expected to win along the way just because these guys have never played together before on a college court.

But by March, with 30 games together under their collective belts, they should be hard to handle.

With Sarr eligible, yes. Without him, it's the all too familiar "one player away" conversation (usually reserved for an injury situation - Dent, DA, Bogans, WCS, Poythress, etc. - or the Kanter deal which would more closely resemble Sarr in terms of sitting out).

I get excited every year thinking we can win it all. I hope 2021 is #9

Probably not. Its all luck and one bad half or stretch can ruin it for you. There is a chance though

If we get Williams and both he and Sarr are eligible then I think it’s our best shot since 2015. My only concern would be PG which is the most important position.

It wasn't in 2012. Of course we don't have AD, but still, we have enough talent and PG should be adequate.

Assuming Sarr gets his waiver, I think we're a top 3 team. We're definitely in contention. With Sarr alone, I think this is our best shot since Fox/Monk--and this is arguably a more complete team than that.

IF we get Williams and he gets a waiver--I think we suddenly become the overwhelming favorites. This will suddenly be one of Cal's best teams here.

And we have an experienced one from Creighton and a Fresh 5 star one.
I may get hammered here for what I am about to say, but I am use to it. :) I actually think we will be better at PG than we were last two years. May suffer early, but towards the end, we will be just fine.

One difference with this team will be the quality depth. The deepest high quality depth we have had in a while. Looks like no bad players to deal with, most of these guys offer high skill and most look like they are high intensity players. Maybe the most we have ever had. Don't think Cal will have to coach intensity with these guys.
