So a Gallery Furniture in Houston is running a promotion right now... If you buy over $5000 worth of furniture/electronics buy 7 PM tomorrow night (central time)... you can guess the winner of the NCG... if you guess correctly, you get half of your purchase back. So for a $5000 purchase, you're returned $2500.

So I don't need any furniture or anything... but I would think that you could buy 5000$ worth of flat screen TVs.... guess the game... then turn around and sell those TVs for very, very close to the price you paid... Essentially wagering a very, very small amount of money (difference in what you bought and sold for) for a chance to win half your purchase price (atleast 2500$).

Someone tell me why I should NOT do this.

I want to say this was done before in Memphis and also I think that Cowboy Maloney's did something similar with either the Super Bowl or they had a deal if the Saints went undefeated, they would refund your complete purchase price of whatever you bought.

In what way could I get screwed in this? Besides not being able to re-sale the electronics at the price I paid for them... I can't think of anything.

Anyone know anything about re-selling un-opened, brand-new TVs? Is it common? Tough to do?</p>

damn near all of the money spent on the TV's by re-selling them. So I'm basically making a 200$ bet to win 2500$ (assuming my purchase is at $5000).

I think were all of this gets tricky for people like me, is that you have to use Gallery Furniture's delivery services... which I'm sure is going to be around 300$ or 400$. So that will make it a lot less attractive to do.

That'll probably be another 400-500 depending on the sales tax (8-10%). Plus, the delivery you talked about will probably be 300-400. Plus, will you have to ship the TV if you resale them? That'll probably be 100 a tv.

Either way, I say go for it.

And I'm 99% sure I'm going to chicken out on it. If I knew I could re-sell the TVs and get every penny back from them, then I'd do it... but I know that's not possible.

in another town. Trust me, they can pay very little and get a policy that will cover whatever their so called losses are. I realize they may not be losing any money with markup but they are losing the markup and will have a policy in place that will cover that. It is actually a pretty common promotion in other areas.

Also make sure that guessing the winner doesn't just enter you in a drawing for the 50% refund.

Then they sold halfway burned sofas.

So this NCG Sale might be legit.</p>

This has mattress Mack written all over it. And I would know.

Did you know that Mack was born in Starkville and his dad played football for state?
