Jackal made some terrible, terrible hires to end his career. But, the man that singlehandedly ended his career was Cooper. He may as well have hired me to run the defense that year. We did not even exert any effort that year once the opposing offense scored. Nobody is happy with Torbush, but Crooms wouldn't have anybody in place that would be doing anywhere near better. There's just not much you can do without having a secondary. That is on Crooms more than anybody.
Maybe, maybe not. Torbush's defenses were getting torched at A&M, so I'm sure he's at least partly to blame for how bad the defense is. Still, it's mainly a lack of talent in the secondary.
This team does remind me of that 2003 team. They could score fairly well too, but couldn't stop a damn thing on defense either. Losing is losing, but at least MSU finds different and creative ways of doing it from time to time.</p>
