If we were a no. 1, we would be hosting. But yeah, UK as a no. 1 in Miami opens up Purdue for us.

Lexington is closer to Gary than to Miami, but I think the same is true for Starkville.

Purdue is the only one (between them and Miami) that actually has a higher ranking, better record, better overall argument of being a #1 seed than UK. Meanwhile, Miami is ranked lower and has a much worse overall resume than Kentucky. If there is a host #2 it would have to be Miami in my opinion. Purdue was pretty much always looked at as a #1, it was just more about their stadium and hosting opportunity than anything. At least that's what I've gathered anyway
